Gore®, the makers of GORE-TEX®, understand that combining strength and low-weight with breathability and flexibility creates the ultimate in extreme comfort outdoor wear.
Sticking to these principles, Gore’s new generation of GORE-TEX® PACLITE jackets (Autumn / Winter 2004) push the boundaries of extreme strength, durability and style by sealing all the seams with unique space and weight saving GORE-SEAM Microtape.
Radically reduced tape size means that seams with even the tightest radii can be sealed, liberating garment designers to create challenging and excitingly fresh new styles in jackets.
GORE-SEAM® Microtape represents a breakthrough in seam sealing technology because the tape measures only 13mm in width rather than the usual 22mm. This ensuring a significant weight saving by reducing the amount of material required to construct a garment.
In fact, the total amount of material saved is equivalent of an A4 sheet of paper. Reducing the amount of seam tape impacts on garment comfort levels as the double layering in sealed areas inevitably reduces breathability.
With less tape, a smaller overall surface area of the jacket is covered and breathability is increased to maximise the fabric’s performance.

Garments made using GORE-SEAM® Microtape are still covered by the GORE-TEX® ‘Guaranteed to keep you dry’ promise, which ensures windproof, waterproof breathable performance over and above those offered by the garment manufacturer.
The flexibility of Microtape will prove particularly valuable to those who demand extreme movement and lightness of their garments – such as ice and rock climbers.
All of GORE-TEX®’s Autumn/Winter 2004 PacLite products will incorporate Microtape technology.
