It's back, or at least it's been replaced with the latest version.
Latest Berghaus E-case is a little sleeker than the original, but more importantly, a deeper zipped opening combined with spring-open, single-handed top should make for even easier rapid access to the contents. Just the right size for most compact digitals or GPS units.
You might remember the tragic demise of my faithful Berghaus E-case last week - a heart-breaking tale of faithful service ended by a fatal zip failure. Anyway, the good news is that I bought, yes, bought with my own money, a replacement in the shape of - cue drum-roll - another Berghaus E-case.
It's not quite the same as the original thanks to sleeker styling and, most obviously, a much deeper zip-opening, which should make access easier, but also means that there's more zip to go wrong. The rest is pretty recognisable. The excellent multi-directional OmniBuckle is present and correct along with belt and hanging loops, there's still an integral, stuff-away mini rain-cover and there are a couple of little internal stash pockets.
Most importantly, the opening is still spring loaded so it gapes open as soon as you undo the zip, making easy access straightforward, even with just one hand. Genius.
It's been fastened back onto the compression strap of my faithful daypack, the editorial Lumix FT-2 hard as nails digital camera is happily ensconced inside and all is well with the world once more. Here's hoping it lasts as long as the original. Oh, about 17 quid, I think.
ps: more pics below. Hopefully...
pps: size of the case? Dimensions: (approx internal ones) 15cm (H) x 11cm (W) x 7cm (D)
