Jon, Please put me straight.

I went to check the Hangwang site as the sizes you quote don't look much use to kids (36 is a small ladies /teenage size). Kids need much smaller sizes. The pic you are showing appears to be the 'FERRATA GTX / FERRATA LADY GTX' boots in 36-42.
Hangwang do have a kids boot called the 'YUMA GTX' in sizes 2.5 - 6 UK? (=35 - 39EU). Still not much use for kids as I would be looking for boots from size 30'ish as the age/size that kids start to need proper boots. After size 36 there is lots of choice from the adults ranges (+VAT!!).

Have I sussed this right or not?

Saw the Yuma on a German website for €129!

You'd be mad to spend that much on boots for growing kids.

My lads do fine in these from Decathlon for €25.

Hi, Ben. I agree about that price!!
I hadn't checked out what they cost as I have no intention of buying them. I was just curious and then confused as the info. didn't add up.
I've mostly managed with 2nd hand/gelert/hi-tec etc. -for the kids boots and done very well at sensible prices.
Thanks anyway. Cathy

They're definitely a new model additional to the Yuma GTX and they're not, I'm told, available in the UK, though you could source them direct from Europe.

They're clearly very niche and they're going to be expensive because of the spec. But if you're looking for a high spec junior technical alpine boot, say, for a trip to the Alps, then it may be of interest.

No-one's saying that you have to spend that much on kid's boots, but if your sprog is a tear-away mountaineering tyro, and there are some out there, and you feel the need to invest in full-on technical footwear for them, this looks like being one of the few options available. The fact that Hanwag isn't bringing it into the UK tells you that there's a small market for the boot over here. It might make more sense for teenage Alp dwellers.

The image was provided by Hanwag. It might, possibly, be of a women's version of the boot and that would also explain the sizing confusion. It's titled as the 'Junior' version of the boot though.

Sorry for any confusion, hope that clears things up.

Maybe I should have said "One would be mad...", didn't think you were interested.
