So does it not have handwarmer pockets then?

Not unless you habitually put your hands in your Napoleon-style chest pockets, no. The pockets are sat high up so they clear a harness. Maybe look at the Arrow Jacket, which uses mostly the same fabric but without a hood, but has handwarmer pockets. Or the Astron works well, though it's a lot more expensive and uses different fabrics.

Is it similar to the Rab Sawtooth jacket? They both look like they're designed for a similar job.

The Javelin jkt is a much more minimalistic jacket than the Sawtooth jkt. It's nearly 200g lighter, has less pockets and the hood isn't quite as good as the sawtooth.

basically the javelin is more stripped down and breathable but the sawtooth is more technical and probably more durable.

I don't know this for certain as i have used neither jackets but i have worked in the outdoor industry for a couple of years now
