Memory Map Adventurer 3500 Review

I've got various bits of Memory Maps on my computer - how do I find out if they're the right version to use on this?

Do you still need a stylus!? The 2800 was dreadful. Is this just as bad but bigger?

A techno-geek mate of mine took a look at it and wasn't too impressed - "needs a faster processor for a start. Stick with Garmin" was his comment to me at the weekend.

I got a demo from the distributor - it was quite hard to hit the icons with nice warm fingers in a well lit shop, with gloves it would have been nearly impossible, so they decided (I sensed at the last minute) to sell it with a stylus which hung from the unit on a nylon cord - there was nowhere to park it. The batteries didn't last very long either. So, say for winter use, it would be pretty much unusable. And memory map software - which I've used for many years - is dreadfully clunky, so if anyone's thinking of buying one, make sure you try it out first. It's a lot of money.

Bought the £380 package. It's badly flawed: you can't see the green of woodlands or the blue of water. Both are colourless when you look at the 3500 face on. So I sent the gps back for them to look at, and they said they couldn't find anything wrong. After speaking with them a second time, I sent the package back for good. They say they'll take the gps back but will charge £200 for the map that came with it.
