Bravo. I've done a lot of land navigation over the years and those five points are nothing short of excellent advice.

4. Compass Deviation

Check wristwatches, karabiners, ice axes, ski and walking poles are all kept clear of your compass – even your jackets zip-pull!

Also, bear in mind that there could be a magnetic anomaly caused by something in the ground you're standing on or in!

Wasn't the first thing that sprang to mind when the compass bearing from Cadair Fawr didn't make sense!

Thinking back to when I have gone wrong Nav-Man is right, I had just never analyed the reasons why before - good advice - think I will prin the 5 out on waterproof paper and carry as a aide memoir.
