I absolutely love this pack, but there's no getting away from the fact that the back length is a little too long for me.  I have a 18.5" back (Osprey size Medium) and I would say you need at least a 19" back for this pack.  Anything above that should fit great as the point where the top tension straps meet the shoulder straps is fully adjustable via a sliding buckle.
