Hi,

Interested in the SLs for my still-growing son... A trip to the Alps in 10 days and he's just grown out ANOTHER pair of boots - help!

What type of crampon have you used with these? I wanted to get a pair of boots suitable for mainly walking/scrambling but with a couple of days involving glacier crossings and perhaps the odd steep snow ascent. I use SLs myself here but usually switch to my Kolfachs for the high mountains, and haven't used crampons with them. I don't want to fork out on 2 pairs that he'll be in for just one season... (but then he's the easy one; his brother is size 48 and still growing....)

Cheers,

Nick

SL's will be pretty much spot-on for that.  The Mantas will certainly be better on the white stuff due to the harder rubber compound - but less than ideal for scrambling.  I use Grivel G10 "new-matic" I think they're called (plastic cups front and back).  I got my first SLs for the Pyrenees with some glacier work involved and they were ideal.  They were great scrambling up stuff like Pic Du Midi.  The version I'm selling is even slightly more full-on so ideal I would say.  NB the ebay sale finishes tomorrow at noon-ish

Sorry - flux has gone it's just the boots left and as it's the final 24 hours of the ebay sale I can't cancel the sale and sell them offline.
