Genuinely just bought one for £135 in the recent offer at Sports Direct/F&T and are genuinely selling it on for more?
17/05/2012 at 17:59
Genuinely selling at a reasonable price. Thanks though, feel free not to buy.

Not really worth the saving imo, extra £19 for a new one and you'll get the full guarantee, unless you're providing the receipt with it of course.

I don't really mind if no one wants to buy my tent but I don't really have the inclination to keep justifying myself for selling it (on a classifieds forum). As has been said if you would like to save 10% on this tent please drop me a line. If you don't want others to buy my tent then please continue to say so and ill delete the thread, you obviously have your reasons.cheers john.

Who cares? Still a reasonable price and if you happen to be making a couple of quid, more power to your elbow.

Good luck with the sale, John.

Don't you just love it when people jump onboard with their ''Smart" comments which do nothing whatsoever to assist the seller.

I well remember when I was trying to sell a particular item on OM and someone remarked that it wasn't worth the price which I was asking-turns out that the person had actually got my item mixed up with something very similar but not as good quality as the item I was looking to sell.Needless to say,my item failed to attract much interest following the posting of these negative remarks.

Good luck with the sale John-as you say in your posting"feel free not to buy"

Also, don't forget to add a few comments of your own on if you ever see any of the other posters on this thread trying to sell an item!

Oh and by the way,I also have one of the £135 Laser Comps- if anyone is interested in it I'm quite happy to let it go for £250 but as John says ''feel free not to buy''

Add what ever comments he wants if i ever sell something on here, as i'll be asking for the going rate and not looking to rip off fellow OM'ers.

How altruistic.

I thought the going rate for something is whatever a prospective buyer feels prepared to pay and not what something may have been offered at by a store at some point in a one off promotion?

On the telly they usually quicky follow that kind of unproven allegation with "allegedly".

And what is "the going rate", twiglegs?

Does anyone actually know if John's tent is one of the £136 F&T sale ones? It might be, it might not, I certainly don't know. If that offer was still on I imagine anybody would buy one new from F&T rather than from John. But it isn't on any more, is it? So if you want a Laser Comp now you only have to decide for yourself if John is offering a deal you're happy with.

Didn't say he was ripping anyone off, just said i wouldn't, there is a difference.

And afaik Terra nova only give the guarantee to the original owner, therefor i'd much rather pay an extra £19.

Whats the going rate for a new laser 1 mate? Certainly not trying to rip anyone off. Not even interested in posting on your for sale ads unless Im interested in buying something.

"Didn't say he was ripping anyone off,"

And I really didn't describe that as totally disingenuous

Ha ha. Is it always like this on here. Good to see lots of reasonable points made so ill leave it at that. Might even sell the tent. Night.

To a fellow member. ?

Depends what it cost you, IMO.

I bought a  Laser Competion (probably 2007-2009 model) from this site second hand.  I paid £135.00.

When the Zephyros 2 came out I bought one of these for £120.00 from Sports direct.  This replaced my Vango Sectre.  I decided my Laser Competition was surplus to requirements so I put it on auction on Ebay.  I sold it for £190.00.  The plan was to recoup the cost of buying it, then sell the Zephyros and buy one of the 2010 model Lasers (2 man versions) being sold directly from Terra Nova clearance for £220. (p & p was £3.99)

I found a brand new 2011 model Laser Competion 2 on Ebay for £195.00 + around £30.00 shipping from the USA.  This was a no brainer.  This was the new model with better ventilation and a smaller pack size!  It arrived within 5 days (better than Play UK for a lot of items).

After Ebay & Paypal duties I made a small profit on the Laser I bought froman OM'er.  I sent him £10.00 as a goodwill gesture.

I am sure I could have sold this on Ebay for a profit too, but the main point is I have a brand new Laser registered with Terra Nova for the full warranty for a bargain price.  The clearance model from Terra Nova direct does not have the full warranty!

This is just the way of the world, bargains can be picked up if you search long enough.

Ok then, let's forget all previous posts and consider the OP.

John, can you give me a bit of history on the comp. ?

Why you selling it. ?

How much use has it had. ?

Do you have the receipt so i can register it for guarantee, or have you already registered it. ?

All valid questions any buyer would ask.

Also, i have no problem whatsoever if someone comes on here and says " i had the readies to take advantage of the recent offer on laser comps, so i bought half a dozen, would anyone like to take one off my hands for £180 and save on the cheapest online price of £199 ?, These are obviously new, not registered and i'll give you the reciept."

Is asking for a little transparency so wrong. ?

I'd also ask how you'd view me if i did the same with the Montane wind shirts that are currently on offer. ?

Oh it does get quite heated at times, i could point you to a thread or two but i wont.

And John, i've no problem with you selling the comp here but your ad does seem a bit vague, especially for a new member, and people were expecting a glut of comps on the market due to the recent offer, if you took advantage and want to make a bob or two fair do's, as long as you're transparent about it, IMO.

As for Seans comments, he does seem to have something against me and likes to comment negatively on my posts,  maybe it's because he knows for a fact i think he's a  gutless c**t.

All valid questions a buyer would ask. Given the glut of comp 1s about i figured most would know about the tent but you're right i didnt give some info.

The tent is brand new and unsed

Selling as its surplus to my needs

As far as i can work out giving the buyer the receipt would not make them the original purchaser but im happy to register it before sale. TN offer a lifetime guarantee on tents so buyers can be confident about quality.

The £180 includes P+P so if collection is possible (SE based) then obviously postage can be deducted (about £7.50 i think) saving a few more quid.

I recognise i'm a new member thats why ive tried to convey that im happy to give any buyer the details and information they need to be happy about buying.

As for the montanes, if i thought it was a good deal id buy one ,if not i wouldn't. I wouldn't be posting on here making all sorts of assumptions about the sellers motives and profit/loss margins. Maybe theres another forum post you could be making about your issues rather than on my classified ad.Ta John

Don't you just love it when people jump onboard with their ''Smart" comments which do nothing whatsoever to assist the seller.

My feeling on this is, in simple terms, that camping is a Good Thing, and so cheap and easy access to a first class tent for those that don't have it is also a Good Thing.  If the supply is made less available and more expensive without a guarantee that's less of a Good Thing than there was before, and that's a slight shame.

This isn't going so far as to say it's unethical or anything that strong, but just I saw this deal as a camping opportunity for someone else, rather than a money making opportunity for me.  So I didn't particularly feel any need to assist the seller taking a money making opportunity.

Pete.
