What differences between your model and the current one?

No damage tho i have seam sealed a small are on the outer (2 inch or so) where i thougt stitching might be coming undone but has not, just loose cotton...not sure what the difference is in any of the models tbh....

The other weekend at the Backpackers Club AGM, there were lots of Aktos on the site. No surprise, since there always are. Clearly, it's THE tent to have. I couldn't help noticing that they were all green. The one on sale here is red. I know the Didster likes red tents, and has nailed his colours to the mast (pun VERY much intended) in that respect. However, the fact that it's still up for grabs suggests that there's a smaller market for red tents.

Having said that... I bet a red tent performs as well as a green one!

Having been a fan of "discrete" for many years with a dark green Spacepacker I eventually bought a red tent for the simple reason that I'd decided on a Tarra as a paddling tent and I could get one in red at £425 or in green at £585, so to hell with discrete!

But while green is clearly better at blending in (which is a real concern for a lot of wild camping, especially when it's not that wild), if you don't need to blend in I now actively prefer the red because it gives a warmer quality to the light inside.  This is purely psychological, of course, but I really do find it nicer inside on a cold, wet morning.

Thanks for that Pete

And when i spoke to Carol McDermot (Crux owner) He also said pretty much what Peter says and this is the reason they use bright coloured tents at Altitude or in the Artic as when the weather turns which can mean a long time waiting to ride a storm out in tentage bright colours keep one sane (Carols words not mine).

Like i have always said they make bright coloured tents for a reason.

Also with the "Pitch late,Strike early" rule the colour of your tent should never be a Blend in issue.

You are correct Dids, if you pitch late & then leave early the colour is irrelevant.  BTW, the tent you are selling is pink, not red!

I think it's also the case that red is one of the best colours to stand out against snow and ice (polar research ships and ice-breakers are quite often painted red, as are BAS Twin-Otter planes etc.)

Also with the "Pitch late,Strike early" rule the colour of your tent should never be a Blend in issue.

Rather assumes you're moving on every day.
