Has anyone received their kit from 'Will Jameson' yet?

'Will Jameson' listed some kit in the classifieds. Link

I paid for the tent, trangia and LA Cap on the 13/7/2009. I have left messages by phone and email but I'm getting nothing back from the seller.

The payment was made by PayPal where his name was given as 'Will Neville'.

Dispute now logged with PayPal.

Not good.

How did the buyer of the Rab VR pants get on?

Hopefully this is all a misunderstanding and the items will arrive soon with an explanation.

Not good,

I have paid him for the 66 degrees north softshell on the 19th July and not heard anything for 4 days, I mailed him and he said he had recieved the money and apologised for not replying sooner as he was getting ready for a trip to scotland!, he didn't say if he had posted it, so I mailed back to ask and not had a reply from that,

He gave me a different paypal account because his wasn't working! apparently it's his dads account, so I've mailed them both!

I too hope it's a missunderstanding.

Oh dear.

My last message from him was on 17/7/2009.

'It is being posted monday if that is ok? Its getting posted either tommorow or monday, but hopefully tommorow "matters on the length of que at the post office", Il e-mail you when it has gone, everything is packaged up.

Will'

This would suggest that my kit was either posted on the 17th (Friday) or the 20th (Monday).

Earlier emails acknowledged receipt of payment by PayPal

13/7/09

'right, moni9es have been recieved, i shall parcel them up ASAP and get them sent too you.

Thanks, will'

I know that the post can take a while but the lack of comms has me worried.

I also hope that 'Will' is ok and that the delay is not down to some accident or the like.

All rather frustrating.

Maybe you should notify Jon as he may want to put a stop on him advertising again until it's cleared up?

Would it be possible to introduce a kind of 'feedback' system for members who sell on OM?  Nothing too technical, but something that can't be easily manipulated by dodgy sellers to give themselves fake high ratings.

Just thinking out loud here, but if, say, a member who sells things had an X/Y score from selling, it might help other members (X being the number of happy customers, Y being the number of items sold, etc.)

sorry ben, bad timing on my part... you must have been gutted, expecting a fancy package of stuff and only getting a leaky jacket...

my sympathy - i had a rogue ebay buyer who made my life difficult for four weeks.  i think you're entitled to kick and scream a bit after this amount of time.

Great idea, but in the present climate I really wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it....it would cost money even if only in terms of programming time.

I generally only buy on here if the person selling's been a long standing and established member or he's previously sold items without issue - which is why it's good to see the posts by peopple saying they've received the items. I really can't see any other way than just posting that goods have been received.

Thanks to everyone for bumping the post.

I am hoping (perhaps naively) that this will still resolve itself satisfactorily.

At least we don't have a situation where the same kit was promised to multiple buyers. That being said some of the better scams are the small scale ones that mainly fly under the radar.

His mobile phone no longer rings and just goes straight through to messaging.

Hopefully I'll get my money back via PayPal if things don't work out with the kit ever turning up.

This is the first time I've ever had a problem with buying or selling kit on OM, normally people have been first class.

Caveat emptor.

Far too rare an event for it to have meaning; I'm not aware of regular sellers.  I'd go with Dave's 'long standing and established member' advice.

I'd lay money on it that you would.

i'd be somewhat amazed if you hear back.

However, from my own experience of Paypal via Ebay, unless he can prove the goods were posted you should get your money back.  I wonder why his paypal account wasnt working, 'frozen' perhaps?

I think this is the first time i've heard of anyone getting 'stung' on here. If that's what's happened. Hopefully it's a cock-up of some kind.

also... i thought something had gone dodgy with a harp delivery (don't ask!) but it turned out he had swine flu and was terribly apologetic and communication was perfect once he recovered.  on the other hand, it's been a bit of a while for your lad to still be ill...
