Hello,

Can you tell me the average battery life and bult rating? Also the distance covered and if it has flood and spot capability?

Thanks

The old heavy yet classic Petzl Zoom?

Battery life about 3 minutes on full power ;oP

Build - lasts for years. Mine is older than my kids.

"Zoom" means that you can indeed flood and spot.

It's been ark-like for many years now, though. The new generation head torches are way better.

If you mean another one, ignore the above...

Thanks, would you recommend buying a newer model such as the Myo XP?

I personally don't have one of those.

Jon, the OM gear/everything editor has reviewed quite a few of the new gen torches. If you poke about in the Gear section of the site (tab above) you should find his detailed reviews.

The Petzl website has very detailed info on battery life and performance.

I keep thinking that I should go for a new headtorch but the Petzl Saxo I have works perfectly well. I've worn it for 7 hours non-stop with no discomfort. I last used 4 lithium AA's in it - I've had 12 hours of light and it's still going.

You should be able to pick one up for about £12-15.

I have the Myo XP and can strongly recommend it. Mind you I got it in Italy for 50 euros not pounds and £50 is a lot for a head torch. You could try a Tikka XP for £35? But I haven't used one of them so don't know how good they are.

Thanks for the information, I will look into it.

I'm still on a gen two Black Diamond Moonlight but the gen three ones are wonderful.

Used a Petzl Tikka XP on a recent trip to Mt Blanc where it was used and on all night. No problem although it was attached to my helmet so cannot say what it would be like wearing it on your forehead for that length of time.

Slainte.
