OK so some Retail Staff really know their stuff & others don't.What really iritates me is not so much a lack of knowledge about a particular item of outdoor gear but staff not really knowing what the shop actually sells.I called into an outdoor shop in Chester at Easter and enquired whether they had a particular product in stock. The member of staff said he wasn't sure whether they sold that particular item. But it's in your latest catalogue I replied,Member of staff takes a look and replies Oh yes so it is.Surely not too much to ask that they could at least take a look at the catalogue when it comes out to get some idea of latest products on sale and prices.

example.

cotswold outdoors 11/05/06 i ask if they sell lowe alpine rain covers for my ruck sack.

Answer... the only rain covers we sell are for ruck sacks.

great can i have a large one in black.

Answer... sorry they only come attatched to the ruck sacks. you'd have to buy a rucksack. besides they only fit lowe alpine bags.

yes i know that, i have a LA liberty 70+20.

ok thanks very much and i leave.

spoke to Rebbeca this morning at cotswold outdoor online sales.

do you have any lge LA ruck sack rain covers.

she tells me that she will have to make a couple of phone calls and will phone me back.

5 mins later she is on the phone to check which bag i have so the rain cover will fit. she then tells me that they have 7 in stock.

I ask where and she tells me in the Capel curig outlet. I hit the roof and tell her that i was there yesterday trying to buy one. She knocks 20% off price and says free carriage and a big sorry.

I happily give her my CC number, i bet its here by tuesday next week.

you see some have it and some will never ever get close and the guy who was working on the ruck sack dept at CO, i'll have a large berghaus, vango fries and a portion of north face wedges with some paramo sauce to go !!!!!!! and dont forget the fat boy coke.
