So Sprayway, a brand I never hear mentioned here...........any particular reason boys and girls?

I don't think it's considered to be a 'sexy' label, Ian.
The only S-W gear I have is a fleece jacket which has been through thick and thin for YEARS; used, abused and washed many times. Apart from a small burn hole on one sleeve (hardly their fault) It's performance is still as new even if it looks slightly bobbly in a well-loved fleece sort of way. (And it's *purple* mmmmmm)
I gather from some of the product reviews however that some of their jackets are hardly leading-edge in terms if weight and design features.

I have an Sprayway Gore-Tex Jacket which I bought a few years ago now. Totally Bombproof and weighs a bloody ton. I usually wear it now to work when it's chucking it down and I can't remember the last time it saw a Hill. As Jeannie says I don't think it's the label to be seen in anymore.

Sprayway used to be Manchester based but a couple of years back were bought by an Irish company. As far as the site goes, it's hard to get hold of their kit for test at the moment, though the magazines do feature it and they sponsore one of the regular features in Trail, I think.
Their distribution doesn't seem as good as it once was either. Shame as some of their gear is decent, plus their current range of women's specific stuff is cut very nicely and loved by, well, women, who've had the chance to use it.

Aha! Just remembered. I also bought a S-Way 'hug me now' top in the George Fisher sale a few months back. Still as fluffy as ever and weights NOWT so great for backpacking. The S-W logo is embroidered in the same colour as the face fabric so very subtle.

Both myself and Michele have Sprayway waterproof trousers and they're bfilliant, I can actually get them on and off my Sportivas and they work and pack down to a reasonable size (they fit into one of the bottle cages on my bum bag).
What does it matter what the label says if the damn stuff works?

I have used some of the old Gore-tex over-trousers. They were the beez-kneez. Didn't get too sweaty, and easy to get on/off over the top of the old booties.
I agree Mike, I was looking at their new waterproof jackets in Keswick last Sunday. Nice clean design...I am interested now to know a bit more about them.

This comes back to the 'Do real walkers wear TNF' subject again, I guess!
Alex - you were in gear shops without a lead??? Dangerous!!
Did you buy owt?
Got an old-ish SW Torridon jacket. Completely indestructable. And weights the same as a small car. Well, not quite, but you get the picture. Also the hood is pretty crap compared to more recent designs. Also got a WNW windproof fleece, still windproof, but now it rustles like a carrier bag when the sleeves move. Suspect some sort of delamination is going on.
I've got nothing against their stuff, in fact I keep meaning to get one of their light windproof tops (not sure what they call 'em but they come in a big drinks bottle thing) its just that I've found other stuff I like better at the moment.

I've got a Sprayway Reaction Lite XCR jacket and lite it isn't.
I much prefer Patagonia.
Jeannie, I was very good...I didn't buy nowt!
I only ask as I recently bought a Sprayway Snowstorm XCR jacket for £150, and its a pretty good jacket, the construction seems good, and the cut is especially good, as is the hood, which is a full mountain hood with wired peak etc as you would expect.
So far its appears to be a good buy, and I just wanted to know why I never hear sprayway mentioned.

Shock headline - Ford goes in Keswick gear shop and comes out empty-handed! Mrs F still loves him!
Then again at the time for £150 it far surpassed anything else I had seen at that price, such as TNF Flight jacket etc
 He's obviously telling fibs Jeannie.
Surel no-one can go to Keswick and not find SOMETHING to spend money on in one or other of the shiny kit shops?
Or is it just that I'm an addict?
Oh....I see.

Nooooo Honest I didn't...I was a good boy!
(I'm saving up for a nice shiney new jacket and top new boots...)
Got LOTS of ironing to do!
 I can be a witness to Alex's non-purchasing weekend...
Oh, in that case it must just be me.
Or he's paid you to say that so Mrs F doesn't find out! Ah HA! Rumbled!!
