Good shout I've just ordered one although the postage doubled the cost stil very cheap.
|
 |
Are the discounts in store also, or just on line?.
|

Normally the stuff on their website are also in their stores. Dunnow about the Fannypack!
My nearest store is Brighton, 24 miles away. Next time when I go that way, I hope to buy, with a bit of luck, this bumbag and Karrimor Overtrousers, reduced from £55 to £5.49p.

What are the over trousers made of,+ are they any good?
|
 |
I only know it from their website. Will post details if I find it in the Brighton store.

Picked up a Karrimor Raid II 5L Fannypack today. Thoughtfully designed with good quality materials and manufacture. Enough room for sandwitch box, bars, pac-lite waterproofs and other bits. Haven't field tested it but should be okay for jogging.
Did not like the Karrimor 20 Plus Backpack.
Brighton store did not have the Overtrousers. Manageress said it is unlikely that she will get anymore.
However, it can be ordered on the net. 90% disount but I am going to give it a miss. Unknown quality and size. Besides I don't need one right now.

Bought the last 2 bum bags in the coventry store today, some sneaky bugger had hidden them behind 3 back packs, the bottles leak a little but will replace them with some screw top ones that i have, also bought a pair of Karrimor Antibes sandals for £11.49, really comfy, the trousers were all too small for me, but at £6.49 a pair i might go on a diet ;-)

nice thread, bought one last week. thks

Yep, So did I, and I replaced the two plastic bottles with two large Sig bottles.
Ideal for taking extra water for the dogs, (especially in this hot weather) their collapsible bowl fitting into the zipped compartment perfectly.
Thanks for the initial tip Blue Max!
:))

Used it for few walks/jogs. Five miles today in the heat; that mesh lining really works. Didn't like plastic bottles. They left plastic after taste. SIG is the way to go as Tony suggested. Also may be a small thermo in cold weather.
My step counter gave wild readings when clipped to the side of the bumbag. A Garmin Forerunner 301/305 at 80% discount will be nice :-D

 lol@tony
sorry i miss read your thread. i thought you said 'their collapsible bowel fitting into the zipped compartment'
cunjoures up strange images of dog intestine shoved into bumbags. hmm i need a psychitrist... helpp...

Why shouldn't dogs carry their own water supply?
About time Karrimor thought of making backpacks/saddlebags for dogs.

You can get dog packs Blue Max, but to be fair, that would be a dangerous practice with the exceptionally hot weather we have been having. Dogs don't sweat, so can overheat VERY quickly, not only endangering them from dehydration, but it would also be counterproductive making them lose liquids much quicker by salivating excessively.

Totally agree Tony, which is why I left Flash at home at the weekend. We were horrified to see a woman running up Blease Fell en-route to Blencathra with her two border collies. She had a tiny water bottle for herself and no extra watre for the dogs - with no water source in the 2000ft ascent to the summit, or once there.

I have to say Dave that I dare not leave my three at home !!! LOL
I do amend my travel plans with their needs foremost, and I am more fussy to ensure that they have adequate supplies of water than myself.
I will carry at least three, sometimes four large Sigs which is exclusively for them. I use a 2 litre Hydration bladder for my own needs, but I usually end up tipping out what's left before the end of the journey for the dogs, much to the amusement of whom ever we happen to be walking with.
Not so much of a problem in the winter months of course!
|
 |
I don't leave him totally alone lol, I've a reasonabally responsible 16 year old who takes good care of him if I'm away. When I do take him he either carries his own water in his panniers (weather permitting) using a 1ltr Platty on each side - filled according to distance etc. If it's too hot I carry a 1ltr PLatty for him and a 2 ltr for me, with routes adapted to take in water sources for him.
|
 |
Yeah, not much of a problem in winter months. You could even then get them to carry your favourite beverage, St. Bernard Dog style!

Went to Brighton branch to pick up a bumbag for a friend. Then found the excellent Karrimor Explorer Airspace 25L Daypac. 70% off. £45 to 13.50. £45 is claim by Sports World. Haven't seen the product advertised anywhere else. But features and looks as good as other makes of similar price.
I filled it with stuff and tried it out on a 2 mile walk/climb this evening. Very pleased with their Airspace system. May be I should start another thread on this daypac.

Don't these guys now own the Karrimor brand name since it all went Pete Tong a couple of years back. The brand is being dragged down market, but clearly some good stuff and a few bargains still to be had
