Rekindling this thread,
I recently bought a delightful mango coloured Montane Featherlight Smock, size L, from TKMaxx...
has something changed drastically in their cut? I have had a few windproof jackets used for running, rowing and biking and wanted something a bit larger to go over a thicker fleece. So I tried the featherlight out in my usual running kit during a cold rainy morning. And while the shoulders and arms are pretty good, the body seems to be massive. I am a solid 83kg / 182 cm (13 stone, 5 ft 11/ 33 waist) and I am usually a little tight in a medium. But this thing just billows around me like parachute when I start running in it as well as making a heck of a noise.
And then there's the zip - which sticks (as mentioned by others in the reviews section). Plus the fabric pull on the zip manages to slap me in the mouth with every stride.
There's plenty to like in this garment - very water repellant DWR, nice long sleeves with enough elasticity to go up over the elbows. But folk in the reviews section just rave about how good it is.
Perhaps I just struck lucky with the Helly Hansen Motive jackets I have used to date, but I think there's a lot of work to be done to turn the Featherlight into the 9/10 garment that others seem to think it is.
