I've decided to invest in some summerweight silly head wear, and was thinking maybe a nice buff. But they're hellish expensive in most places, for little tubes of fabric. Does anyone know the cheapest supplier of the Buff? hehe

Yes they are called large hankies and are much more useful.
And also you have made one of my points against them (apart from they look stupid) is the high cost of them.

I paid about a tenner for mine at a local outdoors store. I think it was worth every penny.

Cheap Buffs? No such thing... :-)
This isn't a genuine buff, but looks functionally equivalent at £2. Some of these things can be really expensive tho!

Aldi do Buff-a-likes for a couple of quid twice a year. Fine for summer.
Why does everyone hate Buffs - I've got a cheapo Aldi One and have used it for 2 years all year round including snow and ice conditions in the Mountains of North Wales and the Lakes. It's got 1001 uses as a scarf, hat, glove, bandana, earwarmer, sweatband (head), sweatband (wrist), emergency knee support, balaclava etc etc. It's excellent for keeping out biting wind, snow and hail when worn around the head, over your mouth nose and ears - best 2 quid I've ever spent!

Large hanky is cheaper, has more uses. And doesn't make you look like a t*t
I was forced to purchase a fake Buff in the alps this year to cover my neck (get some vicious pussing reaction when I get too much sun there). It worked, though I'm not brave enough to wear one on my head.
Ben, are you upset that you had to buy a buff, or that you had to buy a fake buff? ;-)
What's the difference between a buff and fake buff?
"What's the difference between a buff and fake buff?"
About 8 quid :o)
Just the brand name really. There's probably some quality difference as well but I've never owner either so wouldn't know.
There IS a quality difference. Buffs are superior to cheap brands and have better designs. They're also exclusive as they're about the only piece of kit Darren hasn't bought ;-)
'Large hanky is cheaper, has more uses. And doesn't make you look like a t*t' what load of pants, both statements are wrong.
In answer to the original question, HEAD brand buffs are a tad cheaper and the same quality, though not quite the same no. of colours\patterns.

so, does this mean the saying 'in the buff' doesn't mean what I thought it meant all these years?
<confused...>
Fake buff was much cheaper, which agreed with me more as I resent paying lots for gear that looks silly.
Airman - have you just found the 1002nd use?
Also, I'm NOT wearing a hanky on my head..
Fake Buffs.......it's like buying a fake Rolex!
I bought my first 2 Buffs at the Outdoors Show a couple of years ago for £10 the pair. A show special. My next one cost me a tenner but it is in a special design so I'm happy.
Fake Buffs indeed.....would you buy fake P****o?? No, so don't buy fake Buffs! :-)
