It's pretty obvious he lied earlier in the thread to make his case better. He's not going to admit it so I'm doing it for him. Happy now? :-)
BTW I think you are lucky to get another pair of boots over what essentially is your mistake - if they had put you in size 15's and told you they were right would you have taken their word for it?. The shop have been very good to you, but you don't deserve it considering the way you have acted.

Just a pity the shop and it's owners took a slagging on a popular public forum in the process when they'd essentially done nothing wrong.

Aaaahhhh Meindl boots. Remember them well. I had a pair of Burma's, had them fitted and they fitted great. Wore them round the house to break in the MFS and was generally pleased with them. Was pleased with them until i spent a day around the Carneddau. My god, the boots were torture. It was no ones fault, everything was done correct and proper it was just my feet didnt suit the boots, simple as that. Damned shame cause they are lovely boots but my Dad ended up with them :o) The moral of the story is, you can have all the best fitting in the world. You can buy the best boots in the world and all the best service in the world but if your feet dont actually suit something then it dont make a slight bit of difference. Went back to Salomons (this is a good few years back) and my feet were fine. Anyway, just felt the need to add that. :o)

they measured his bleeding feet wrong!
ok, its only half a size, but thats enough to make them unwearable, i think spike have done the right thing, they wont lose money, just less profit.
now everybody, move along please, theres nothing to see here.

Really it *is* for the wearer to decide if they are the right size and to try them on at home to make 100% sure.
The same size from different makes often fits differently - so a measurement 'out of boots' is not really as good as if they feel right when on.
By the sounds of it the shop have been pretty good about this - but he got new boots (and hopefully the right size) and they have scored some advertising and PR points - so let's hope everyone is happy now.

just as a side note guys and girls
just as an experimerent, try measuring your own feet weighted and unweighted, in the morning and in the evening then say what size you are..
boot fitting isnt rocket science, its harder than that

I always try a few pairs on - I am sure a lot of people just go to the shop thinking that they will buy whatever was 'Best in Test' although it probably is not 'Best for Them'... ;o
Try a few pairs on - when you find ones you like try on a size (or half size) smaller or larger etc. If you are happy with them - take them home - test 'indoors' before taking them outdoors.

In alot of cases there is no real difference in the lenth of the half sizes only the volume of the boot!
another point to consider Compresable foam around the heal / anckle, how long will this have a memory before being compacted down giving you a bigger boot?
Also when measuring feet, the half size is what roughly 5mm bigger, if one time you went in and get measured first thing and then went back later that day, would not take much to tip you over to the next half size up.
ps. Rich and Paul are nice guys, i'd be extremely suprised if they were nothing but helpful

... and it depends how hot your feet are, the time of day, which socks you are wearing etc. etc.
