Oh and I've added a massive blogging and outdoor links page on the site, which can be found here.

If you are not on it and think you should be, please drop me a line. It makes for some great coffe break reading!

You swine BobC!

Guess I've got to retitle my blog now so it doesn't start with a W and appear 132nd on the list

;-)

Bloody competition has closed! Grrrr!!!

Otherwise, rather enjoyable!

By the way Bob, the Glasgow HF celebrate their 90th birthday on THURSDAY, not Friday as I said previously

I see you've taken out the two Dr Who links, Bob

I'll need to listen to the show when I get back - filial duties to take care of just now. Else no chance of Christmas presents later.

Edited: 23/10/07 00:17

Don't worry more prizes in the bag ready to keep people smiling and certainly I've learned that I need a fairer method to encourage folks to join in.

From now on there will be 'names in the hat' from Monday to Thursday, and I'll draw the winner out when I record the following show.

Yes thanks for telling me that Duncan! I finally worked out how to copy the best collector of links in town and then Darren tells me there's shortcuts to those pervy Dr Who sites!!! I've added a pile more already and I am continually amazed at just how many 'enthusiasts' sites there are on the web. Incredible.

And James, I wanted to promote the birthday event, but you didn't tell me which day until I hit the record button. It wasn't even on the website that I could see ;-(. Anyway, hope you have a good bash, from the pictures it looks like a really active top club. Wish I was closer.

If anyone else has up and coming news for the next few weeks please email me via TOS as soon as possible. I record the show Thursday evening generally, and I am trying to keep the variety of interest for all.

So long as you don't accept entrants after the competition has been closed.

I suppose you can't get more out of doors than Doc Who. Bet he's completed the JMT before he set off.

Latest Podzeine seems to have auto released slightly earlier than planned, however here's 45 mins of entertainment for you.

And I've even been a good boy and got it up on The Outdoors Station too!

 What a nice man.

Blogger updates etc will be doen when I get back froma trip tomorrow.

Bob,

Is this the right place to post comments/feedback on the podcasts, or is it better to email them to you?

I've only recently come across the podcasts, and it's like wow! How many do you have available? There is enough there to keep me busy for ages.

I'm not to keen on your music segments, but otherwise the presentation is easily up there with professional radio (and far better than the stuff on Radio 1,2 or 3).

Keep up the good work.

I'm not to keen on your music segments

Me neither, but I can live with them.  Otherwise, I thoroughly enjoy the podcasts.

By all means email me directly via The Outdoors Station, and give me feedback - good or bad.

I'm trying to produce something which will sit well with all ages and interests, and of course 'you can't please all of the people all of the time', but without listener comments I could be heading off in completely the wrong direction.

The music is there for a couple of reasons, if nothing else to kill the background sounds where I'm recording the podcasts. I don't like listening to others content and hearing dogs barking, cars passing by and kids shouting etc.

It also adds a certain 'mood', and 'lifts' me just as much as I hope it does the listener. One voice droning on with no breaks, idents, intros or whatever, will soon send you to sleep. I find for that reason I can't listen for very long to Wildebeat or Practical Backpacking.

So as long as people can live with the 'added bits', I'll keep using them. I am trying to do a deal to include new artists occasionally into the show, but then of course my taste in music, may not be yours.

And it's all done on a shoestring while I try and get the Outdoor Industry to wake up to another way to reach you, the audience!

So yes, please send me feedback, and I'll add them to my new listener page, which I'm collating at the moment.

And Urc, I think I've done almost 200 now between BPL and TOS - not sure, so there's plenty to go at!

New podzine released 5/11/07 and here's interviews with Buff, Trangia and the best Town Pub in the UK. Plus competition to win some new Buff Hides!!!

Drop by have a listen or download here.

Don't forget to tell your retailers about them and get more of them in the shops!!

Only got a minute to listen to a podcast?

Then try the first release from Country Walking magazine. Only 1 minute in duration, you'll here a poem read by a poet, about Standing Edge.

Something to do with a very 'arty' Country Walking issue this December.

Maybe they are catching on? ;-D

Possibly?

Hey wake up folks!

Win an Alpkit Pipedream 400 sleeping bag for nothing in the latest Podzine!!!

Oh, and you might enjoy the podcast too ;-D

Find it here

Once again the week starts with a new Podzine, find out who won the Alpkit Pipedream bag, what is going on in the Midlands and below and we now have 12 new prizes to give away this week!!!

What a nice man I am LOL!!

That's over £500 worth of prizes won and shipped out in the last few weeks!!!

Surely that's worth a listen in anyone's book?

Tune in about here ......

And still the free content keeps coming.

This time Foraging for Fungi. Is there such a thing as a free lunch?

Interesting and yet confusing subject. Can we? Can't we? etc etc.

Those who are more than a little curious might be interested in a podcast I've just released from a fungi foraging trip this last weekend with some experts.

Hope you like it and you can find it here.

Just realised I've given away over £600 worth of prizes these last few weeks to some happy listeners and there's a new competition to win an Inov-8 rucksack and gear on this Monday's Podzine!

Doing my best to make people happy and sharing the outdoor love! Come and join in, you never know, you might like it ;-D

You know where to find me .....  www.theoutdoorsstation.co.uk

"Roll Up Roll Up .. get your new podcasts here ...."

Am I the only one using this thread?

Loads of new podcasts up on The Oudoors Station, travelling to Australia, a couple of Kayak shows, Riding Around the World on Horseback, three new ones from Cicerone Press (Navigation, GR 5 and GR20, and The Book Story).

 And it's all free!

The weekly shows will be starting once again at the end of Feb, and amongst other things you can catch up with recent shows you might have missed, including the Canoe Expo, The Camping and Caravaning Show and Focus at the NEC.

I've been busy on your behalf, suffering under this ruddy flu and need some love!

I expect to have a couple of teams at The Outdoor Show and a few others happening this year. So should see you there if you are going.

Don't forget to email me with any events, gatherings or socials to add to my weekly calendar which I'll try to keep pushing throughout the summer.

And if you hear of anyone who wants to sponsor their own series it all helps to pay the (ever growing) time and bandwidth bill, so if you like having the facility, please mention us to your outdoor social circle if you would!

Cheers Bob

The Cicerone ones were very interesting Bob - a great piece of work

Hi Bob.

Ive only recently started listening to the podcasts on my mp3 player at work, gets me through the nightshift. great stuff!!

I particularly like the ones where you and andy are off out on adventures, very inspiring! The other ones where you get interviews on some very interesting people and subject are great aswell. (its nice to be able to put a voice to some of the names I read here)

Im working my way through the RAB/TGO challenge ones from last year.

Keep up the good work, its a pleasure to listen

New (and very interesting) podcast!!

I'm sure many folk will be interested to hear the latest one with Lord Smith of Finsbury the well known as the President of the Ramblers’ Association. In 1997 - as plain Chris Smith MP - he became Culture Secretary in Tony Blair’s incoming government. In this interview we talk to Lord Smith about the 100 year fight to introduce a right to roam, consider how these laws might be extended further and how we can give young people better chance to enjoy the great outdoors.

Hope you find it stimulating!

Also a small reminder, if anyone has any 'public welcome' events you wish to publicise this year do drop me a line and I'll help where I can in the forthcoming weekly podzines.<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->
