Sorry, looks like I got it wrong again: assuming Matt's 75g spin footprint the weights are:

Akto 1.465Kg
Akto mod 1.306Kg
LC 1.015Kg
Photon 865g

...and coming soon, a spirited and detailed debate on the actual number of angels that can dance on the head of a pin.

The argument will kick off with different vewpoints on the actual surface area of the pin head before the real intellectual stuff when Matt C and fb lock horns with Matt C claiming that fb has chosen unnaturally skinny angels in order to support his assertion.

Get a grip, guys.  You're arguing over a couple of hundred grammes at most.  Your own body weight is likely to vary by more than this over the course of a day's walk.

You know what I think?  They're both quite light!

Would that be a titanium or an aluminium pinhead, Jake?

quoting Jake: "You know what I think? They're both quite light!"

Well, Jake, that was more or less the point of my original post. When trashing out ideas as to whether one should go for an Akto or an LC, maybe weight considerations have little bearing on it (although the weight difference in one's rucksack is quite a different question from body weight. A lighter sack, even by a few hundred grams makes for much easier walking for those approaching/past middle age...).

Ultimately, if weight savings is what you're after (or if you've an Akto and are wondering if you could reduce pack weight), then the Photon is an option worth considering.

But yes, at the end of the day, it's six and half a dozen...

WP and when youve done all the mods to your akto, you end up with a ........................................ Helium

Well, the good thing is that the mods are all reversible... You can de-Helium your Akto at any time...

Is that half a dozen or half of a baker's dozen?

And this pin thing sounds quite interesting....

Hey Jake, fwiw I'm not arguing - I've got my tents and I don't care much what other folk choose. I'm just putting some facts into the discussion so that anyone who is considering this can work off some accurate information.  And so is fb....

Anyway, angels are an outdated, unproven and irrelevant religious concept - I wouldn't argue about them either....

Well, more like a baker's dozen, methinks...

But the really interesting question is how many thumbs can you flatten on the head of a (Titanium) tent peg...

Rather than have this Akto vs Laser debate over the kitchen scales, why not settle it on a really windy, rainy mountain?

That's what the Windy thread was set up for, ALS - the original intention was to test various tents to destruction, including Aktos and Laser Comps. Unfortunately most of the wind is of the rhetorical sort

"Sword" fight with the winner winning something ?  An Akto, or a Laser Comp, or MoS's affections depending on your viewpoint/preference

Because I'd take my Quasar!
