You're along the right lines, but not quite nailed it! Wetherlam isn't necessarily in the opposite direction compared to Hodge Close. I'd imagine W and HC are like the two bottom 'prongs' of a Mercedes badge...

 Hill Fell near Tarn Hows?
No - in fact you're getting colder! Turn around and head back the other way!
Hmmmm, I'm starting to think that I have either a) no idea what you're on about or/and b) no idea what a mercedes badge looks like. I suspect both. But assuming it's not b - a line from W and HC intersects at about Tarn Close Crag near Blea Tarn. So, that's the centre of the badge? If we're then to assume that the location in your picture is at the top of the other prong then I'm extra confused. It looks to be near the ODG. Raven Crag?! *scratches head*
LOL! MY clues are rubbish aren't they??! OK, so imagine Blea Tarn being on the top prong of the Mercedes badge. Look towards the centre, the hub, if you like!

Do you mean the quarries that are about 300m north east of Great Intake? Isn't that part of Tilberthwaite quarry? I think you might as well tell us Michael as you're more or less doing that (or trying to) anyway. Edited to say - actually the bit I'm looking at isn't part of Tilberthwaite. Is it Cathedral or Moss Rigg, Low Fell, Runestone .... ?

 OK, I'll reveal:
Its the quarries in between Atkinson Coppice and Betsy Crag, just south of Little Langdale Tarn. Kind of Tilberthwaite, but not quite (I don't think!)
The reason I was holding out for somewhere specific was because of the footbridge - it's a huge slab of slate that has been turned into a makeshift footbridge between the two 'walls' at the edge of the quarry. I was thinking that if anybody had been there they would be able to be quite specific about the location, as it's pretty unique (well, in my experience!)
Never mind! So, who goes next? I reckon you Cath, as you were pretty darn close.

That was what I was thinking with this Michael: Do you mean the quarries that are about 300m north east of Great Intake? Looks like that turned out to be an obscure one then, eh? Nice photo though. I will dig something out later and post it up.

Are there any rules for this? The photos seem mostly to be UK ones, so I'm assuming that's the done thing? *goes off to rummage for a photo*

 Looking out from a letterbox?

.jpg) Bleaberry Fell/High seat? looking towards Helvelyn .

Mmm, is it a a bit too small (a the bishop said ...). Sorry. Close Diddy, but not quite.
Stuck in a post-box somewhere in the Lakes?
Well, I'm gonna keep quiet. It would be unfair to nick it from Diddy after that first guess..

I'm thinking you might have been climbing - is there climbing to be had on any of those crags above the north end of Thirlmere - Raven Crag, Castle Crag, Iron Crag, Goat crag?
Or High Tove maybe, coming over from Watendlath?

Rather a scattergun tactic there Matt (and a slight advantage in knowing me fairly well). Mind you, that is exactly what I was attempting with the last one. Erm, yes, it was Raven Crag, Thirlmere. Diddy definitely identified the view correctly though. I hadn't been climbing though, it was February and by then it was nearly dark. And quite nippy. I fell into a frozen bog up to mid-thigh later that day (well, it was pitch dark actually so night really). Hmmm, it didn't look that far on the map and I thought it wouldn't matter that we started at 10am with a hangover.

.jpg) Cheers for hanging on there Richard .real gentleman Im used to it now with Matt stealing the limelight when others do all the hard work,i think we did nickname him Matt Turpin , but i had to get back to my decorating or trouble would be had when the boss came home !! ... DIDDY
