what about cioch harta..any of u have one??

Its the winter version of the glamaig with a storm flap (i think), and its made from slightly heavier more durable materials like canvass and renaissance fabric.

I like the look of the windshirt too, lots of colours to choose from and could probably be modified to your taste.

Its nice to be able to design and tailor a piece of clothing to your spec and size, making most pieces very individual and thus making it a very desirable, and addictive to the point were i might have to remortgage the house.

NPC do Cioch do 2 shades of green?

Only the one I think. The internet swatches look like spectrum green but the pic of a Glamaig is nearer the truthful colour.

Too warm for whom? What activity will that person be doing? Does that person "run hot"?

It's unlikely that ANY jacket would be suitable 'year round' as in summer I wear just a t-shirt, even in light showers, and would not dream of weariing a full-on jacket, even though I feel the cold in winter.

Impossible to say how each individual feels the cold etc.

Sorry I can't help.

ok ninja its should be for me...and i run quite cold..ill be doing backpacking, camping winter expeditions and mostly moving in mountains...so need something really waterproof ,and something that can last years...

and i like the design of the harta....

and have a question..how often need nikwax fabric used in harta be reproofed to be waterproof?

Depends on:

1. how often you wear it

2. how dirty it gets - dirty fabric=loss of DWR.

Our current Paramo stuff gets washed in Techwash or plain water approx every 20? wears (jacket) and 10? wears (troos) as the troos get muddy and the jackets stay clean. Proofing gets re-done on a 1:3 basis with the washing.

When the rain stops beading and running off = time for a wash. If it still stops beading = time for a re-proof.

p.s. I do NOT wash/reproof my Paramo any more often than I used to wash/reproof my Gore-Tex-a-like.

Regarding colour - my Glamaig is black and I find it fine - if a little sweaty - in summer. As I say, I rarely find that the weather is all that hot when it is raining.

I would, however, reckon that the Harta is a too warm for year round use.

AJ - I also have a windshirt, which can indeed be modifed to taste as well as made to measure. I asked for a full length zip, no pockets and a drawchord hem (it also looks rather spiffing in grey).

2 ninja...

id like to wear it as much as needed..so basically all year..

i supose it shouldnt get very dirty...im going to take care of it if ill get one...but little pricey...

so basically how often per year for example you wash your paramo stuff?...of course depedning on activity ...

I really can't say - I just wash it when it stops beading up or is muddy. I haven't kept a record

If you really want a jacket to use all year round then the Harta would prolly be too heavyweight, it's very heavy duty. Try looking at a Glamaig jacket.

when it's dirty or smelly or stops beading too much. depends upon how much you wear it and what you're doing with it.

mine usually gets an autumn wash and proof in preparation for winter if it needs it or not and a spring wash - so it's clean for mainly storage.

last winter i mostly wore a furtech jacket all the time which included commuting which makes the thing rather dirty so it's had a couple of washes.

DavidG. sounds very nice that. Like the idea of a full zip and drawcords. Nice colour the grey aswell.

I wonder if they could make a detachable hood for the windshirt.
