Hi anyone else out there feel that the New Alpkit Filo Jacket is the best £65 they will ever spend on outdoor kit? Got one on Tuesday and was very impressed by the quality and finish not to mention the spec, now with a wired hood. Great item, just goes to prove that the big boys have been ripping us off for years just so as we can advertise their brand on our chests. .

cant agree with you more best 65 quid spent on kit ever (since the pipedream, wee airic etc) even better the alpkit logo on the new one is so discrete they're not even getting the advertising from it despite the fact they deserve it. i may have to go walking with one of those giant placards you see directing you to pizza shops off high streets except for alpkit lol. ;)

Just got mine, really great but I thought that it came with its own stuff sack so I was ever such a tiny bit disappointed when it didn't. Also got the pipedream 600, a slim airic and a Gourdon 25. All great gear. I'm just showing off really

Dyndinnas I got one last week and although it doesn't have a stuffsack, it (just) fits into its own inside chest pocket turned inside out, to give a handy small pack. Although this is without the hood attached. Petie

Picked up mine from sorting offince on Friday. Wore it round shop and when visiting. Sprayed the outer with Nikwax tent/gear proofer in case it makes a difference. I'll try stuffing it in a stuffsack when I've stopped looking at it and going "nice". Good solid feel to the zips. I'll need to get out in the cold to try it out.

On the Alpkit homepage the bottom left hand side link to the Filo page shows a guy wearing it and doing up a bag. Anyone know what the bag is? Perhaps a Gourdon without the clear panel?
i think it's the new gourdon yeah...im fairly sure there was another pic in the xmas log but its bin taken down now.
Just got mine in and out of an OD x-small bag, but didn't manage to seal the waterproof roll-top. Maybe need to eat more spinach and force out more air from the coat - neither of which I was willing to attempt.

Any thoughts on the back and arm lengths? They seem a bit on the short side for my chimp arms, nothing longer than 34.5 inch in either dimension...
Toxic - I've just got one. I have a fairly long torso - 5ft 10, but only 29in legs - and the back of a medium goes right down to the top of my legs. I think my arms are around average and the sleeves are perhaps a tad over-long.

I notice my new Gourdan 25 has straps that are a little more substantial than those on my 30L version which I bought quite a while ago. Those guys listen don't they?
Stitching in left-hand pocket is now opening. Not a material fault. I'll take needle n thread to it when I get a chance.

Alpguys seem to be having a winter sale to clear the shelves of Filo's. Now down to £50 each, limited sizes/colours, but someone might find a bargain...
I know I'm a bit late Sherlock, but I have excessively long arms (really!) and I have no problem with the arm length, even on a medium.

I ordered one yesterday and i'm now typing this with it on, very warm!! Terrific alpkit service as per usual. On size, i'm 5ft8 with fairly longish arms and the medium fits me perfectly. I've been thinking about getting one for a while as i'm getting into tarping. It feels really well made, the zips don't catch, often a sign of poorly made kit. I don't think i'm going to regret making this purchase, well except justifing it to the other half when she gets home.

I ordered a jacket on Sunday 27th received it on morning of Tuesday 29th,good effort from Alpkit and Royal Mail Even better was the price £50!!!,the colour was'nt my 1st choice ,but I aint giving a monkeys aboot that, gonna give it a field test next weekend up in the Glen Dessary area,
Brian Don't take this the wrong way, but its May now!!! Unless there's a big Cold Storage unit in Glen Dessary that you're going to be spending some time in, a Filo jacket is the last thing you need at this time of year. I carried mine in my pack and wore it on stops / summits during my winter outings, but its at the bottom of the cupboard for the next 6 months now! It kept me warm on summits in jan/Feb at over 1000m / -10 Deg. I also tried wearing it as extra insulation inside my 3-season bag when I camped in December, and had to take it off as I was sweltering!

Nae probs, but if Pean and A'chuil are as cold on Friday, as I remember them, it will come in useful ,also Magoo's was bloody cold 2 weeks ago,and when im in the bothies late at night thats wheni'll be using it.
If you wear it in Pean, it will get covered in bat shit! Forget that, the're probably still hibernating!
