When I started my club rugby the bar was men only and we had a seperate "Ladies Annex" for the poodlefaking.

Different times.

Still, it's typical of sore losers to attempt to devalue another countries' achievement by quoting lesser important ones!

England v Wales

Funnily enough frum, many moons ago when I played the game, I was in the then Gwent Ambulance Service and in addition to playing for a town side, I played in the Ambulance team and we played other services in Sunday games for charity.

One Sunday we played the Gwent Police who had quite a tasty side. We were two short and were preparing to play minus one flanker and a wing. The New inn ladies team had been training and two of them volunteered to play for us, much to the amusment of the "macho" bobbies who took their game extremely seriously.

Their number 8, a huge British Police international, had run half the field, beating all into the mud, all he had to do was run through the slip of a girl who was playing as our full back, standing between him and a certain score.

In one of those moments when you don't want to watch, but just have to, I watched in horror, expecting to see her end up flat on her back, gasping for air, with muddy footprints running up her "lumpy bits!"

What we all saw however was a text book tackle, bringing the blue giant down with such force that he lost possession of the ball and knocked on!

She also scored one of our three tries too, and we lost by just one point against a Police side that had been runners up in the British Police championsjips that season!

It was irony personified when after the game we gave her "MAN" of the match!

They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.  I've just been re-watching England  - Ireland and noticed that the Irish replacement Hooker has a Keith Wood haircut.

I do enjoy the rugby, all those gleaming bodies fighting to get their hads on the ball

Gerrof, Pole dancer; rugby players' thighs is my province!!!
Expert in thighs is our Kate!

Is this one of the positive things to come out of Ashton's failure and the thing that might save his jo?

I would love to see full terms of ref. for the three of them - I don't understand whether the "new man" in the England setup replaces Andrew or Ashton.  The one thing that is clear is that there is not room for all three to have sensible jobs.

Well EDF cup final is going to be England V Wales again.

Tigers V Ospreys!

Excellent!

Well, just back from Vegas () in time to see Tigers win.  Great game!

Tigers v Ospreys.....excellent indeed.

Yay, well done Munster!!

Welsh boys on tomorrow. I spect the Ospreys'll win (after all, they're nearly Wales ) and the Blues won't

If the RFU Blazers muck about for much longer, Jonno might not get our Defence Coach back.

Sensible lad. Working in international rugby with Warren Gatland will prepare him very well for the top job in England eventually. Just hope it never happens

Congratulations to Wales on the signing.  Can't say I blame Gatland for not being prepared to dive into the mess the RFU have made, and still are making,  of England's national team.

After second place in the RWC and the Six Nations you could justify keeping Ashton on, with a manager brought in under him to look after the non-playing aspects of the job. Alternatively, after some of the team performances (particularly the early RWC pool games, Six Nations against Scotland and the second half against Wales) you could justify sacking him.  What is inexcusable is the way the approach to Johnson has been allowed to drag on and is still in a state of confusion.

The sooner the RFU get rid of Francis Baron and bring in Johnson with complete authority for the national team  the better.  I can't help thinking that if that arrangement had been finalised two weeks ago, and Johnson had been able to offer Gatland a definite arrangement including a part time deal so he could continue to honour his Wasps contract, Warren might well be coming our way.

Freudian slip?
