TN Laser Comp: bad weather experiences?

Hi,

while there's written a lot about the Laser Comp's overall performance, the comparison with the Akto, size, fabric,... I can't find much about how the Laser Competition handles bad weather.

Foul weather like heavy rain, strong winds, lot's of exposure on ridges, etc. How does the Laser Comp cope with this?

(off course the laser comp isn't designed for this kind of weather, but I want to know if one storm can ruin a whole trip...)

Thanks!

Jasper

Indeed. Unless the birds are flapping their wings and not moving forward I'm happy in it.

Ptc do you pitch yours side on into the wind or end into it???

Ithink i read you pitch small end into it am i right?

I do aye. It works okay for me, and it seems that there's less chance of large sections of the two skins touching all the time if the wind is really strong.

I'll be proved wrong abnd it'll be torn off me one night like a velcro skirt off on one of BuzzsFizz.

Cheers for that im out next weekend in mine for the first time so i will deffo give it a try that way .

I used one one in a storm and it flapped around like a jelly vibrator.   BUT!!

After reading on here about them and their fussy arse way of putting them up I wish i'd kept mine and mastered the cats cradle of errection before I sold it.

Lol.

Earplugs and a few beers might help

The following thread discussed the best direction to pitch the Laserlite/Competition

Pitching Laserlite

(first attempt to insert a link, so here's hoping...)

I haven't pitched it in really wild weather, but I'd be perfectly confident in using it in rough weather as long as it is well pegged out.  After all, Steve Perry used a Laserlite I believe for his winter Munros round...

Nothing hard about it , inner and outer together  ,bang it up , and when its up , have a walk around it adjusting as you go . No problem .

If I do have a problem , and its only a small one , (advice please ptc*) is that sometimes I get a largish gap between the outer sheet and the ground  and sometimes I dont . Am yet to suss out why . Its probaly very obviuos .

Jonno, I get that sometimes. It seems to be when pegging it, if I don't get them in evenly it pulls it a bit.

he did use one every one every now and again but he stayed in bothies when ever possible and other accomidation when he could. im not saying he didnt like his laser but he certainly only used when he really had too.

having said that he was going to use a super lite voyager for the second part of his trip but didnt so............... and my point was???

steve perrys website seems to have gone. shame, i thought he was abit of a modern day hero to the ramblin folk.

St. Perrys website from last year here http://www.3peaksafrica.co.uk/

He is a hero of mine, isn't he new dad as well? That'll be a real challenge for him!
