Hi Jules, just bought a few basic bits n pieces,Red chili vcr shoes,Wild country vision ziplock harness, belay device, petzl elios helmet.

May head to dynamic rock tomorrow to do some bouldering...only if the weather is crap though. If the sun is shining then I'm off up into the beacons with the other half and the hounds.

Looking good, Steve. I'm off to the BBNP tomorrow

Steve, I would love to join you down the wall tomorrow but I have pulled a muscle in my hip so I am staying home board all weekend, resting up ready for Skye next week, put the Yorkshire trip off for two weeks.

Well I was bored but we bought a bottle of rum and some frozen fruit and with the help of the blender are making Fruit daiquiri and then drinking them so not so bored now and I am sure the anti inflammatory properties of the rum will be good for my hip.

Well, thanks to the link that Kate provided to the met office website,it looks like the weather will be fine so the plan at the moment is to walk up to fan brycheiniog with the dogs, via llyn y fan fawr...however plans are always subject to change!

Aye,resting the hip is probably a good idea.Good luck with the rum, just demolished a damn good bottle of red wine already this evening myself.

I'm starting at Craig y Fan Ddu, then over to Carn Pica and round Talybont reservoir. A personal favourite, but not a patch on where you're off to, Steve!

Have a great day.

There's something to be said about both your routes Taran and Kate, they're in parts of the park that others do not go giving lovely solitude and wonderful views and they are too both favourite areas of mine.

This picture is of the Cairn back in November 2005 (the last time I went up there)

And on that day this is one of the views that I managed to get, wonderful!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, Simon. And you're absoutely right about it being quiet. Set out from the carpark at 9 and met 2 people on the hills, and some cyclists on the Taff Trail. Sunny with cloudy intervals but no rain. The cairn at Carn Pica has been beautifully restored since your photo, Simon, and it's now the dove-cote shape it was originally. And I love that view of the peaks peeking through from Craig y Fan Ddu. Cribyn may be the little sibling, but that steep snout doesn't half look impressive from a bit further on!

Just hope Steve had as good a day as me

As planned we went up to fan brycheiniog via llyn y fan fawr.Started the walk from alongside the river tawe on the old trecastle road.Bit cloudy early on but the sun was out by the time we got to the llyn with only a slight breeze rippling the surface, had lunch on the little beach at the northern end while the dogs enjoyed a swim.

Visibility was perfect, even the path up to pen y fan/corn ddu was plain to see in the distance.I must have done this walk over 50 times and never get bored of it.All in all a fantastic day out.

Hows the new path coming along. Last time I went up there this year it was all white.
Here's my youtube from then.

Aye,the path is coming along.not sure if its finished yet though!

Loving the youtube clip, makes me look forward to this coming winter...lets hope we get our fair share of the white stuff eh?...great choice of music by the way.

You and Russell are two lucky b*st*rds, Simon!! I love those hills.

Is the footbridge opposite Tafarn y Garreg open now so you can get to the bottom of Fan Hir without going back up the road towards Abercrave and detouring through the farm?

Yes the bridge was open when we went in March.

OK  Back from Skye, bruised but happy.

Forcast is dodgy but hopefully we will know better later in the week. If raining maybe Dynamic rock.

Hope to still climb Sat and Sun one way or another.

If it is this weekend you are talking about Jules, better make your reservations with Dynamic rock now!

The forecast is for heavy rain all weekend that I can see using metcheck and met office. So doesn't look very good at all.

If it doesn't improve dramatically I'll probably stay home to work on house as I need to balance it out as I've just been away.

Lets see what happens nearer weekend.

I'm still up for whatever happens.Quite happy to go to dynamic rock if the weather is crap.Went there last week to do some bouldering.

We may be lucky but I think indoors is the most likley outcome.
