I got some plastic cupboards from muji and keep them in there. On the face of it, this is very organised as most of my maps are os explorer and in numeric order.... but then I chuck in printed tracklogs maps and don't know where to put them, and then I go walking and pick up lots of public transport information and that goes in there too.... so, umm yeah. My tracklogs are all 1:50k which I don't find handy for walking in the south of england - not enough detail - and I end up bringing an explorer with me anyway.

I keep mine on the top shelf of my walking gear cupboard where I can't see the names and they all fall out onto my head when I try to select one!

 > How do you store yours? On two 4GB SD cards... ;-)

That and photocopier paper boxes salvaged from work.

Two Tesco's bags, under the bed!

Photocopier paper boxes - now that's an idea. Do they fit in neatly, CP?
Unfortunately, OS maps are just the wrong size to fit vertically or across a photocopier paper box. So the packing density isn't optimum... I tend to use A4 boxes to store a lot of things; they're robust and free. I have a collection of stuff in the loft in boxes that must be 20 years old... I may experiment with A3 paper boxes...

Could be a marketing opportunity here?

Could be a marketing opportunity here? For Tesco's bags or beds?

If you buy reams of A4 paper in 10's they come in a box the correct height for OS Maps. You also get a lid. If neceassary you can strengthen the box with tape. The boxes are easy to label.

 > If you buy reams of A4 paper in 10's they come in a box the correct height for OS Maps Never seen paper come in 10 ream boxes in 24 years at work. Not that I've ever ordered the paper, mind. You see something new every day... I'd say the perfect size box would be 6 ream...
It only comes to us in 5 ream boxes
Okay maybe I'm wrong, it could easily be 5, but the box is empty so I cannot count them. However I'm sure you get the idea.
No, I don't think you're wrong; see the urban dictionary entry, and a google for "10 ream a4" gives hits. Just that I don't think I've ever seen any in the office. I find that the 5 ream box isn't quite deep enough, especially for the 1:25k Leisure maps. That's with 80gsm paper, though; if you bought 5 ream 120gsm paper, the box must be deeper. By a factor of 1.5. So such a box ought to work... I think the 1:50k Landrangers fit in the boxes okay. Maybe I need to go home and lie down a bit. Been sniffing too much meths fumes in all the stove testing... Or just look at my boxes of maps...

That is too technical for my brain captain.

That and photocopier paper boxes salvaged from work. now that's such a brilliant and blindingly obvious idea - not only for maps but all those CDs I'm ripping to itunes and not going to look at for quite some time....
