yes mel, the stella plus is a nice stove. I believe it replaces the gravity, but would fancy the stella. the remote stoves sre much better than fixed arent IMHO. Weve got the gravity and its abeast of a stove, if but a little heavy

Looks very swish... I have a gravity EF - nothing to write home about - just a stove really - piezzo (sp) electric thing is a load of crap so I pulled it off from day one.

MSR WindPro, no bells or whistles, pretty much perfect.

My Epigas Alpine has done stirling service for about 25 years now. Not sure what the modern equivalent is, but well worth looking out for.
|
 |
Are there any modern stoves that run quietly like the Alpine, rather than roaring away?
|
 |
Fancy this? Only 250gms. No preheat loop, which means no turning the canister upside down in cold weather. I'll stick with my Epigas Alpine (now Coleman), despite the extra weight.

As stated in the other thread Mal, on 'Support Your Local Independent Outdoors Store', I used the term 'cheaper end of the market' to actually not mean that particular online retailer there shown specifically at all. (The link was but used for illustrative purposes there in that instance, to show the basics of that cheaper manufacturer's stove design and specs). But instead rather to mean the stove itself and its manufacturer specifically, being the other 'cheaper end of the outdoors stoves market' by direct comparison with more expensive stove makes already there aforementioned. It should, I had thought, have been rather more obvious and easily immediately understood; with the much lower original suggested RRP of the stove there illustrated in evidence, before even any retailer discount prices had been stated. I was not, and generally speaking do not, ever claim to have found the lowest price possible for an item I might use for illustrative purposes in a thread post. Instead I save that kind of posting to the Bargains thread alone, along with everyone else, the much more usually.

"I was not, and generally speaking do not, ever claim to have found the lowest price possible for an item I might use for illustrative purposes in a thread post. Instead I save that kind of posting to the Bargains thread alone, along with everyone else, the much more usually." Er, you must point out to me where I said otherwise Trev. You pointed out an example with a price attached I merely pointed out the same example with a cheaper price attached, which information I thought you and others might appreciate. What I wasn't doing was trying to trump you, so you had no reason to be so defensively arch (that sort of means sniffy) in your reply. Now, would you like me to give you directions to the life shop? BTW, Ryedale Rambler is one of your smaller independents.

If you read the other thread there listed Mal, you will see why I am keen to state that fact here for what it is now; it is nothing specifically just in answer alone to your thread posting just now there though, don't worry!

Er, you must point out to me where I said otherwise Trev. You pointed out an example with a price attached I merely pointed out the same example with a cheaper price attached, which information I thought you and others might appreciate. What I wasn't doing was trying to trump you, so you had no reason to be so defensively arch (that sort of means sniffy) in your reply. - Wrote Mal. Not at all Mal. I don't feel that way there so mentioned at all. In fact nothing could indeed be further from the truth at all! You should know me better than that now! Just read the other thread as I say though, and you should better understand why I stated what I did above there. It was suggested that I was perhaps trying to win essentially particular purchases for particular retailers earlier on on here tonight, by some other folks on here; by making that link post you mentioned there especially, is all. That was not my intention ever however, and neither was it my intention to try to suggest that was a 'best price' for those goods in particular mentioned there in any way either, at that time. I merely only used the link to illustrate the item itself and not any particular especial price you see!

I, and I am sure many others will too greatly appreciate the better price posting you gave there, for sure Mal. Particularly me though, as I don't personally like shopping at Go Outdoors myself anyways at all!

Mal, you have internal mail here on OM!

Mal, you see the 'implication' at least, that was made earlier on the forum - and not by yourself, I do know - was that I was maybe guilty of trying to obtain certain especial sales for certain especial retailers here, by posting direct links to those stores. Nothing could be further from the case, as it happens. I think anyone reading that other thread earlier on could have possibly maybe mis-interpreted what was there being said about myself, in just that way above mentioned though. Even though I do not believe the person making the comment was necessarily suggesting any real impropriety upon my part directly perhaps maybe. To answer that, I wrote what I did. Just to set the record straight is all! Just to avoid any possible further incorrect speculation, misunderstanding or confusion upon the matter. I decided I needed to do this when a couple of hopeful folks - friends of mine - emailed me after reading what was written, asking me if I could get 'extra-special deals' especially for them too then. I cannot! I can't even get them for myself, let alone others! More is the pity.
