where would the ident tag be anyone??

Glenn Looks fairly modern to me - there is an overhang on the ends and a cowl on the top vent. However it looks as if it has been left out for UV exposure quite a lot - I have never seen one that colour. If that colour is due to UV degredation - then it is knackered. Edited to add : Or at least that is what I would suggest

Nice borders though fb, but the grass needs cutting. I'll pass this to mrs P for approval.

See? That's what happens when you buy a red one!

Given that a new Akto runs to 300 quid, and the fabric has quite good staying power, I'd say it's well worth its current 60 quid bid price.

its not me bidding FB, but its worth watching for its educational value, to see what one in this state fetches. Ill still rather wait and save up for one for around 225 as in F&T sale, there will be others. Who was the fellowwho burned a hole in his....? Maybe he should ebay it too

Maybe he washed it in the wrong kind of detergent...

F&B put their price up to £250 a couple of weeks ago, I did manage to negotiate £240 for mine though.

brilliant quote from the seller: "some sun bleaching to the top (gives it character, you wont look like a novice!)"

that marking to the hood over the door looks like a burn to me, as if someones been ironing it!

Ptarmigan - if you think it is worth £60, go on my son. Look: You can see you hand through the fly sheet! That tear is probably exacerbated by the weakness of the fabric. First sign of a blow and this fella will fall to bits. Sorry but £60 down the drain IMO.

excitement! having bivied for years on solo trips, want a bit of comfort and have dithered badly over what to get. photon? oh the weight sounds lovely, but looking at the 1g pegs yesterday in the shop, haven't had such a tears in the eyes uninhibited hoot of a laugh in years. may as well lightly throw the lines in the hoped-for direction. want to save weight, don't take the pegs at all. and as for buying a tent that lets the water in at the seams? strayed away from the point there i think. ditto for the comp as far as i can see. but these charming squabbles over the akto pros and cons have made my mind up finally - the pros that i want (a bit of extra stability over the tn comp - important since paranoia from when our last 2-man 4 season geodesic flattened in under an hour on an only-slightly-stormy skye trip) - and the sort of cons i personally can live with. so i'm off to buy one! excitement again! and many thanks to this/similar threads for helping.

 which tent got flattened jo?
|
 |
You can see you hand through the fly sheet! I can see my hand through the flysheet of my brand new Kaitum, made of the sdame fabric. That's because it's thin, not becuase it's buggered. You can't tell anything useful from that picture. Pete.

that tent went for £153 in the end.if that tent was originally green then it was a waste of money as its been seriously exposed to the sun.
