As one who who went thru' his heavy metal phase with the likes of Black Sabbath and Rush amongst others but who also raided his dad's album collection containing such greats as Nana Mouskouri and Johnny Mathis (remember them?) my taste in music is very broad but my middle age crisis is upon me, shown by my recent 'need' to buy a keyboard and take piano lessons and my preference for seeing a West End show rather than a rock concert but my taste in music has changed considerably after seeing this lot in concert in early 2007. I have probably mentioned them before but I make no apologies as they are quite simply superb and they have shaped my current listening habits, which is pretty much anything to do with this genre. This year they have performed in front of George 'Dubyah' and the Pope, amongst others. You have to see them in concert to see how good they are:

and if anybody is familiar with the music of a Ska band called Jimmy The Squirrel

I like pretty much all music - from the usual pop and rock to classical, via techno, drum and bass, 'easy listening', punk, etc.  The only stuff that doesn't really do it for me (though there are exceptions) is modern R'n'B type stuff, Reggae, and Jazz.

I haven't bought a CD for years, as I download my music.  The last mp3 I downloaded were 'Umbrella' by Manic Street Preachers (cover of the Rihanna song from last summer).

The 'music' folder on my PC currently stands at around 10,000 mp3 files, and is about 30Gb!!

Last 5 tracks I listened to (with iTunes on random) were:

PFM - 'Danny's Song' (dreamy, light drum and bass)

Sugar - 'Hoover Dam' (from the excellent 'Copper Blue' album from approx 92)

Doves - 'Pounding' (a truly epic anthem)

OMD - 'Tesla Girls' ("No, no, no!")

Kraftwerk - 'Radioactivity' (makes me feel very nostalgic, for some reason!)

I'm sure you'll all disapprove of this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPPCYV4tZMU  But it's what i'm listening to right now.

don't wear sandals, try to avoid the scandals...

...the pump don't work, cause the vandals took the handles

I'm not listening to any MP3s. Especially anything that may have been downloaded. Nor am I opening letters from my ISP.

Honest

I don't see the point really when albums can be had from HMV and PLAY.com for little more than a fiver

You are so right there Glyn! And from the www.thehut.com and www.powerplaydirect.com, and www.blahdvd.com and their sister site www.101cd.com and www.dvd.co.uk and so on and so forth!

Errrr.... 4 bottles of Ale to drink whilst listening to your illegally downloaded album would be my starting point. If was to do that kind of thing, which I don't.

The trouble with the internet is that it makes it too easy for big companies to sue. EMI never found out that I taped their stuff off the radio or rigged up a Boots cassette to my Dad's turntable to copy their records. Oh, is that the postman at this time of night?

Well,

I buy my music and download my ale to drink illegally.

I've been listening to some classic David Bowie from the 70's - mainly the Diamond Dogs and Station to Station albums.  Also quite into the Nico LP Chelsea Girl the now as well.
