doesn't "comfort rating of +3.8 - +8.3, an extreme rating of -10.6 and a season rating of 2-3 seasons" tell you? beyond that it's down to how how much of a "warm" person you are. my personal interpretation would be fine at 13C as i add 5C to the "comfort" rating.

well being tescos i didnt really want to take their ratings as being lets say accurate. so it tells me nuthin. just wondering if anyones had 1st hand experience of using the bag. its cheap but is it any good? ive used very cheap bags in the past , bought in nepal. just because its down doesnt mean its built well.

Shirley, I think you'll find that Tesco's descriptions are in line with the standard ER13537, and therefore reliable within the constraints of that standard . Apart from assuming "standard people" this makes other assumptions such as sleeping in a tent , on a good insulating mat. If you have a couple of hours to spare read the whole of the ref. below - well worth while for anyone thinking of buying a sleeping bag. If you have less time, just read Chapter 8. Link.

I doubt you're alone, look at how keen a lot of people are on the 1 person Argos tent. If something does the job does it matter if its cheap and has no trendy branding? hell no. some of my favorite bits of kit come from LLbean of all places .

I've got one, used it for the first time last week. It seems well made, just how warm it is i couldn't say? I had a fairly unsettled night, I wasn't wearing much and my feet were cold, however the wind was blowing through, and as my gear was wet I couldn't increase my layers. It was a horrible night, however with another layer on my feet I would probably have been a bit warmer, at the moment it has a partial thumbs up.

I know some one who has got one and it seams a good bag for the money. OK its not as good as a Rab bag but then if Tescos could make one as good as a Rab bag for that money then you would wonder what Rab was playing at. Certainly worth getting if you are on a budget and want to keep the weight down.

Hmmm went to look at that link and ended up ordering a swatch for a new sofa?

I spent a lot of time looking at bags. I've had cheap 2 season bag for warm wild camps, but I reckon I need a bag 5 - 10 degrees warmer than the rating to have a good nights sleep. I bit the bullet and bought an Alpkit Pipe-dream bag for £110. Took it out last weekend on a D of E trip in the rain and (cold) wind. It was superb. Spent most of the time with it un-zipped, like a duvet, . It is so light, but incredibly warm. Late in the evening we were sat in Rowter farm site, with a cold wind whipping across the site, I put he bag round my shoulders and within30 seconds I was toasty warm. For the price these are the best. I know it's a lot more that Tesco, but it's a steal compared to the big labels. I couldn't believe such a light, thin bag could generate so much comfort. stuff tesco's go to Alpkit

I've got one and used it in The Picos de Europa a few weeks ago. No real problems but in my opinion it does need a liner if you sleep naked as the inner material is a bit sticky/sweaty and not the soft comfy pertex material found on more expensive sleeping bags. It also puffs up significantly when you try to stuff it into a stuff sack and you find yourself having to wring all the excess air out of it to get it in the sac. I've not had this problem with more expensive sleeping bags. Anyway, I paid £17.50 for mine in the Tesco's bargain section last year and use it with a silk liner and don't worry too much about it getting damaged by embers or branches, etc when Bivvying. So no complaints really.

I would have thought plenty of air in a down bag was a positive benefit (other than for stuffing). At which type of Tesco can these bags be found - regular stores or the other 'bigger ones' which I cannot remember the name of? Extra I think they are

 Tesco Extra stores

All sound cool (not the bag i hope) i would go for an alpkit bag but i have 4 other sleeping bags already.. my summer sleeping bag a snug pack softy 3 is useless even in mid summer valley bimbles so i just need something for this time of year only (and for 30quid it gotta be worth a go) as i already have 2/3 season 3/4 season 4+(whatever that means) to play with. so tescos it is!!! do i know you gritty? you look familar..
