I even subscribed....because I got a free multimat, which I rate. So for me it was a win win situation. It cant all be cutting edge and hardcore as it needs to appeal to a wide audience, but it is generally an OK read. G

I think he is trying to say that he now gets it because he wanted the free gift They have emailed me back with the step by step genius guide to battery changing in your TV remote. 1. Purchase battery - we recommend Duracel for optimum performance. 2. Open the back of your control - this should be Sony in all but a few cases as it ids clear that they make the best TVs 3. Insert battery (Duracel) and leave for 5 minute. 4. While waiting make a cup of tea with PG tips (the best camping tea on th trail) 5. Resume TV control operation while watching Coronation street (Trail's favourite)

What's the 'best armchair in the world, ever', for watching TV from fb?
|
 |
I dont know Mike but Trail have had a recent review 'TV armchairs'. Apparently the Parker Knoll Recliner wasnt even reviewed! Rediculous!!!! That would be like having a lightweight one man tent review and not including the Akto...

its true guys, it doesnt feature stuff often spoken about on here, but for me its a welcome change to looking at building sites evryday. Helps me to think about being outdoors when I cant be.

Very good point Glenn. It should be done!
However I only drink nettle tea. A bit one sided really.

We have builders in doing some refurbishments and alterations so last week we had a big clear out. I ditched dozens of old Trail mags but as is my wont and to my wife's annoyance I got sidetracked leafing through a few. To cut a long story short, I was quite shocked at the amount of recycling of old routes and articles, so many of them seemed so familiar and recent to my mind and on digging out a few more recent mags I could see why. At least some of the more horrendous and dangerous bloomers in route planning had been ironed out second time around.

Shocking isn't it?
I was leafing through my back numbers of Escort and was appalled to see Michelle of Leeds featured 3 times over the course of 18 months...

Different pictures from different stages of her life though Jake... I am puzzled though.... If I can harp back to another favourite of mine 'Trout and Salmon Magazine' (No relation to Michelle of Leeds). They may have a test on say.... 12 ft salmon rods for samaller spate rivers. Now, 3 well respected fishermen (not employed or related to the magazine) who are wel known for their skill in salmon fishing in various parts of the country get together with all the rods on test - they try different lines and different lures and different styles of casting to formulate an opinion (still subjective I know). They mark these rods out of ten for value, performance, and quality (seperate marks for each) they then compare notes and total the scores - one rod may win outright or another may have better value etc etc etc - the users / testers also give their views and personal opinions. Taking this back to Trail magazine. From the contents page "Tents - twelve clever lightweight tents are rated for comfort value and utility".....No such bloody thing... They say it is "Britains Toughest Test" - what test? and by who? What was rated for comfort value utility FFS the Photon tissue paper won!!! It is none of those by comparison to other tents. Reading the reviews......"Britains toughest test" apparently - how wher they tested? all the pictures have the same back-drop for the tents. What were the weather conditions? If this is just a case of write a spec and see what the spec of the tent does by comparison then it is not beyond all feasibility that you could write this (hidden from the readers) spec to meet that of a favoured manufacturer who is a good advertiser with the magazine (I am sure this doesnt happen) Rant over

As if such things could happen. Tut, tut fb.

yes guys, your right, often it is a load of very subjective info, and Im sure many of the readers take it all with a large dose of salt, but it beats Hello, or Farmers Weekly, or other such dribble, even if marginally in someones opinion

I suffer from advanced gearitis outdoorism, GG64. I buy every outdoor mag, no matter how bad some of them are.

Nobody doubts that Glenn, Youre quite rightly defending something that brings you enjoyment. No argument there at all. But, I am afraid, folk without prior experience do not take with a pinch of salt. they may buy a photon because it was the 'best in test of 'Britain's toughest test'. Terra Nova can now rightly advertise that on the back of 'Britain's toughest test' their Photon came tops in Trail magazine 2008 when rated for comfort value and utility. That is my point, not that you choose to buy this magazine and read it instead of Farmers weekly. Dont take it personally...
