Correctly said FB, not taken personally at all. Indeed, Id love to see a test of Vango Helium, Akto, and other single hoopers to see just how they compare. But as has been noted, the test should take place, not in someones back garden, but up on the fells when theres inclement weather forecast.

Like Mike, i need an outdoors fix to get my mind away from boredom of modern life... its either that or Jack Daniels...

I would settle for the Jack Daniels and the internet Glenn....

(oh I do already, dont I )

I need to change the battery in the remote for the TV - do you think Trail magazine will help if I email them?

Go to the LFTO website, there'll be a video explaining just that.

I used to subscribe to the running mags but soon picked up on - Same London MArathon schedules same time each year and the buy these new trainers and take 30 mins off your marathon pb. Run a mile and lose 7 stone in a week. wtf

It works! dont mock...

Buy a new pair of Saucony ultrafast £99.99 and get a free hacksaw to chop off you right leg.... easy! 7 stone gone with a week to recover.

For running you only need shoes, socks, shorts and a vest. LOTS of new 'outdoor' stuff to buy every month!

No no no no Mike

For running you only need 5 pairs of shoes, 15 pairs of socks,  7 pairs of shorts and a cupboard full of vests + WP jackets + a wrist watch + a heart monitor + etc etc etc ad infinitum.

In my case I have some shoes and a pair of ron hills.

I only ever had 2 pairs of shoes on the go. Nike Air Pegasus and Walsh's.

especially if you team up with someone who cut their left leg off - cheap trainers.

I usually have 2 pairs trainers on the go at once ( and before you start fb) an old git who we used to run with always said " you can only run in one effin pair at once"

Thank goodness for tinternet mail order.

I only have two pairs

Salomon something or other costanarmandaleg and a pair of Innov////8 mudclaw usually but the dog ate them so I have Lasportiva cross lites until the winter when they are worn out and I will buy some more mudclaws.

I dont have any running shorts at all. Just Ron Hills, and I only ise my walking base layers to run it - so I dont even have a running vest!

Ronhills are the best, although those DXBs are crap.

And just to get back on thread here perchance. You seldom see a bad report on all the gear.

Britains toughest test .... on running sacks - how many miles did they run with each sacjk and what load?

in the middle of the test there is a picture of some gezzer scrambling with an Osprey Talon 33!!!!

That isnt running! - and it isnt a running sack! - and it isnt even featured in the test!!!

gits
I've seen a dangerous report though. A down s/bag that failed to reach zero in Tog testing was praised as suitable for ultralighters because it was light. I think it had a claimed temp rating of -7c, but tested at 3c. Ultralighters don't freeze to death?

I rest my case.

If I was ever going to run with 33l worth of stuff (a medium-sized helium balloon and a botttle of water?!) I would indeed be happy to try it with a Talon as it does cinch down remarkably well and is fairly light.

As far as running goes, I do love Runner's World and its obsession with counterpoint articles like "take 10 minutes of your half marathon time with PUMPKIN SEEDS" (April)  and "PUMPKIN SEEDS- can they damage your ears?" (May).

Kit reviews in both Trial and RW are worthless if you ask me. RW did a review of "off-road shoes" this month, carefully leaving out unpopular and rarely-worn shoes made by Walsh and Puma but including every serious runners' favourite choice - TNF. Of course. Innov-8 got in though (but not with a model I can remember seeing actually being used for running).

Oh and I have got at least two ladies' fleece tops which fit me perfectly. And Huge Waistcoat likes to wear womens' tights in his tent - so I will be reading Judy Armstrong's column with interest in future as clearly we are on to something.

go on marcus, you know you want to wear ladies tights....

Well of course I already do that but I don't need the excuse of pretending that they're "outdoor equipment"!! Anyway my heels get stuck in tussocks if I try that malarky.
