Well persecuting Paddy is one thing, but I would like to see them prosecute a pooch for not having one.

Hmmmm, it could be a nice dodge for when "they" come calling, "It ain't mine mate, talk to the Rottweiler!"

They have to have a licence even if they don't watch the BBC, but do watch any of the other channels.  Unless they use internet viewers.  Possibly...

I'm with Paddy on this, if Microsoft were to do what the BBC do in charging people to use a television even if they don't watch the BBC then Microsoft would have been through court by now!! Personally I have enough to pay with Gas, Electric, House Insurance, Car Insurance, Car Tax, Car Mot, Income tax, National Insurance, Dental Treatment, Optical Perscriptions, Council Tax, Car Fuel, Public Transport, Food, I could go on forever. All of the above have gone up and are often stealth taxed!! Big corporate organisations continue to rip the world off and laugh at the muppet in charge of the country that has put the uk in its worst economic disaster for decades, they still don't pay people higher wages. I have enough of all the above without being forced to pay out for one channel out of about sixty I can watch for free! I like the BBC's content and the quality, but I'd rather watch a few adverts than have to pay out for something else!! I'm 32 in a solid career and still can't afford to live or buy a house or start a family so having to fork out for a tv channel really really p1sses me off... can you tell?

Went to buy another freeview box the other day and no store would let me buy one unless I filled in a form giving details of my tv license, can you imagine the uproar if you went to buy a PC and they said you couldn't have one unless you could prove that you were going to use windows on it!!!!!

Last time I did this Jamie you could have written Mickey Mouse (or Paddy Dillon) on the form, no proof was required. Not sure if that's changed.

lmfao! I wouldn't dare put Paddys name down! I'd be fearing a knock on the door and a red faced angry bloke in a tilley hat who'd just stormed all the way from Ulverston!

That having been said I agree it's vastly irrititating having these details demanded.

You are either very young or you have a problem with recall!

Please, recognise a quality service delivery when you see one. Yes it costs but look at what it provides - not a great tennis fan but mens tennis final!! - Mountain with GRJ - impartial news!!? - radio 5 live etc etc. There is certainly some rubbish but who would be without it. £12 a month or thereabouts terrific value even with the credit crunch.

Impartial news my Harris, I remember the miners' strike and the battle of the Newport transporter bridge. Not the BBC's finest hour. They broadcast edited film that seemed to show miners attacking police but in the ensuing prosecution they were eventually forced to produce (very reluctantly and on pain of being held in contempt of court) the unedited version which showed the opposite to be true. The jury was directed to find the miners involved not guilty.

£12 a month to watch Julia Bradbury climb the Lakeland hills?  Worth every single penny.

Now, if they've gotten that Paddy Dillon to do it instead it'd be a very different matter!

Offroad Shoes I suppose I am young at 32 but we'll have this conversation in six months when the actual disaster is happening or about too, its only the beginning at the moment and it is going to happen!

Yeah... go on... put my name down when you buy your tellies!

After all... the BBC is banned from my house and they know the Police will be set on them if they breach that order.

And it'll cost them an absolute fortune to unravel what's going on!
