I'm not daft. I know a troll when I see one. If you were really the BBC you'd be able to pull my file right now and tell me how much compensation you paid me, and on what date, and what offences it covered. Over to you...

It was lots But not as much as we pay Jonathon Woss

 Says it all really!

I'll look forward to that podcast Bob. Should make for interesting listening, and far more accurate than anything I've heard from the mainstream media! Yes, Mr Slate Mine was milking the opportunity for all it was worth. He even managed to squeeze in a couple of promotions for his via ferrata business.

I'm pretty sure I remember Mr Slate Mines slate mine being the subject of a Radio 4 program.A more cynical person than me might be forgiven for thinking Mr Slate Mine knows somebody at the BBC. Personally I would like to see the BBC pushed into a public apology for this. They caused a vast amount of worry for the relatives of competitors. Couple that to the inaccurate reporting i.e. incorrect place names, mountain heights, 'rescue' details etc, and it becomes hard to see the BBC as a reliable source for information.

BBC Licence Enforcement! Just how many secret identities has FB got on here anyway!!!???????

Standard BBC Apology - and don't forget to watch the clip to see how 'sincere' it is. The BBC never apologises - it just treats the whole country like filth!

Sorry about that Paddy. Really we are.

To any OMM posters. I owe you all an apology, having read the conditions of entry, and other posts, i was wrong to post what i did. obviously the MM's i took part in where not as well regulated as the OMM, please accept my sincere apology, and am glad every one got back. HM

I didn't think you said anything essentially needing much in the way of apologies there, huskeyman.

craps hit the fan with cumbria county council, just been on BBC look North about the fact that these future ? events need to be brought into line with for example great North run and liabilities etc, they are not happy with the fact that these people? just turn up and dont pay a thing towards the local economy it goes on or wot?
|

Its OK - the OMM will be contributing to the economy of another hill area next October. CCC's council tax payers can go back to flogging Wainwrights in peace again. Beware - let the police interfere in hill travel, and befoe you know it, we will all be H&Sed off the hills when there is a nasty chill in the air. The decision to go and responsibilty for safety is yours. The comments made are appropriate in a child protection context, but this is not the 10 Tors (long may that event continue). The real lesson is Dont Cry Wolf

the Times had a good article, along the lines of 'why did people overreact about not immediately being able to contact 2,500 people who we knew had taken bad weather camping gear to camp in what we knew was bad weather in places we wouldn't be able to contact them'. if the people in favour of cancelling the event, in order to prevent people taking the risk, were right - does that mean every other tourist/athlete/wild camper in the Lake District should also have been told not to go out that day or night? because that's a very difficult civil liberties proposition to sell to people...

I have seen various posts on the OMM mentioning that they should of been insured would insurance cover RAF SAR/MTR/ NHS costs does public liability cover this? For example if a footballer breaks his leg does the club get a bill from the NHS? jim
