Hi Mike

Sounds interesting Judy. Couldn't you put a valve on the quilt, like some pack-sacks and the Exped downmats, and empty and fill the quilt of air as needed. That would also give you a very small pack size. Or is cuben not airtight enough?

I guess one could, however any air admitted would still condense if it is damp and gets colder, and without vents the down would remain damp and degrade.

The quilt goes with a prototype down-filled mattress with clamped drybag-style roll valve. No pump or Thermarest style valve is needed and the down in the mattress can be through-aired with the roll valves open. Not yet convinced about durability, though the seams appear tough enough ... its all nice and light and compresses small too ...

Couldn't you get hold of the stuff that Exped treats it's down with, to stop it degrading?

I like my quilt too, but not sure i would fancy a cuben fiber one though. I like snuggling into something softer.

Yeah, snuggling would be good ! I usually wear clothes and light grades of cuben conform pretty well really. Wonder what Exped treat their down with  ...
