The Helium Superlite is in the Force Ten section of the site, though it's not the most intuitive site to use. We're getting one in for test precisely because it does look like an interesting option. In a way Vango make things hard because they have so many different tents that you kind of get range fatigue...

I know what you mean, I see there are 3 suitable tents for me to research just in the Vango Helium range! another 2 in the Terra-Nova laser range and about a handful of others. As long as I can get below my initial weight of 1.3kg and single skin issue of my old tent then I think I will be happy. Although I can see my self scouring the internet and spending days in shops trying doing this! On this note do you know anything about the following?
Vaude Power Lizard - I can't find out much about this, there isn't even a footprint spec on the vaude site! BUt it comes in at 1kg and is a 3 season 2 skin tent?
There are the 3 Vango tents in the helium range, The Helium, Helium superlite 100 and 200. I look forward to the test.
Terra Nova Laser and Laser comp (photon is a bit too small I think but the other 2 look ok?)
Hilleberg Akto - although I don't loose any weight from my original spec I can't help thinking this looks a good tent?
I also wonder if there are any tents that I am not looking at which would be under the 1.4kg spec.
Also regarding the site, ou are correct, I get infuriated when trying to search for something using the specific categories and it just resets itself and gives my loads of items.
Any way cheers for your help. B

One of the staff at my school owns a Hilleberg Akto, he absolutely loves it, however for cadet weekends he takes a canvas force 10, probably so no-one stands on his tent in the middle of the night! The TN Laser Competition is an excellent tent for single person use, however if there's going to be snow on the ground I don't reccomend it, froze in my four season sleeping bag on an issue rollmat, then again it was well below zero and the only way we were warm was cramming 12 people into a Spectre 250 (Vango, that tent is the dog's bollocks).

Google VauDe Scutum, it looks interesting. I seem to remember an article on OM about it.

Friends in the Tempest 200 using a lower fill sleeping bag and the same rollmat were fine. That night did however convert me to thermals!

It's always warmer with more than one person in a tent. Also, maybe they sleep warmer than you?

Didn't Steve Perry complete his continuous round of the winter Munros using the Comp's immediate predecessor, the TN Laserlite? I imagine he got a bit of cold weather The only features of the Comp that might work against it a bit in the cold are the mesh panels at the inner's ends and the top of the door, but that's more likely to be an issue in blustery, windy weather because of the draft. I've got some silnylon covers sewn to block these if I wish, but, as Mike says, your clothes, bag and mat can easily compensate in any case.

Ok, we've established I was a fool and had/ have crap kit that's not appropriate for that weather, STOP FEEDING THE KIT WHORE DAMN YOU! Sorry about the derailing of this thread.

My Laserlite had fabric panels for closing the mesh ends if you wished. I used it for years in all seasons. The only tent i've used that seems a lot warmer than any other i've slept in is my Stephensons Warmlite. I don't know if it's because it is totally sealed up, or the aluminiumised inner, or both, but it definately feels a lot warmer than any other i've used. I bought an inside/outside thermometer to record the actual temps, but haven't managed to get around to it yet.

Ooh, what's that tent? And what's that it's pitched on? Hey, Spen, it's nothing personal, just that if comments about kit failing or being unsuitable aren't particularly accurate, it doesn't do any favours for other folk who might come looking for advice and read them.

If you are doing the GR10 over the summer, chances are you aren't going to be camping in that much snow. It could snow but whether it will stay around is another question. Unlike the HRP, the route isn't aiming for the tops. Being on the French side, you are likely to get much more cloud and rain than on the Spanish side of the range. Upside: more water for drinking. Downside: bumbling around in clag.

hi bonjour64----i have got a saunders jetpacker with A pole for sale ----1.5 kg---excellent condition -£85 inc. p+p

Now that's an offer you can't refuse, a minus sum for a tent in excelllent condition. I wonder, does that mean you'll be paid to take the tent, Bonjour?
