Ah! got you. I think I'm heading that way, so I'll look more closely at your solution. God knows where I got it from (probably a car boot sale) but I've got an "Alpenstock" sort of walking stick. I think I'll measure it up and see if it'll do for a pole for the S/L 3. Might have to think of some sort of attachment for it. Will post on heer if I find its a goer.

Bob over at Backpacking Light does a natty pole connector. Oookworks will custom make a half inner. The other alternative is to get a custom made carbon fibre pole. A motorbike stand plate will stop the pole sinking into soft ground.

My SL 3 shelter got destroyed by aggressive cows last year in the Catalonian Pyrenees - there doesn't seem to be any stores selling replacements. Anyone seen a website selling these?

I've pm'd another OM member on your behalf, as i believe he has an unused one for sale.

Tried out my own Shangri La last week end in Llangollen. Chuffed to bits as I was able to try out my mod that oookworks made for me. It was a sort of half nest with the fabric facing the sides made of ripstop and the fabric facing the inner made of midgy mesh. It worked a treat. The floor, tent and pole weighs in at 31/4 lb (1.5kg) and all in just under 4lb(1.8kg) and about 6oz or so for pegs, its a real nice tent with loads of room.

I'm assuming some people browsing this thread are after one. Here is one for sale on Ebay

No problem Rob glad you got one sorted

I'd seen that one SSP, but it has now disappeared without trace. Presumably someone has bought it privately.

Hi All Have just bought an SL3 outer and have an order in with Oookworks/Mrs Nesbit for an inner and cannot wait to use this on my next trip. Quick question - I have noticed in a you tube video by Bob at BPL that he uses a motorcycle stand plate to stop the stock pole sinking into the ground which seems a really good idea. Ultimately I intend to migrate to some leki poles but want to use the stock pole first so wondered if you guys had ever had a problem with the pole sinking and, if so, what you use to stop it. Many thanks in advance,

Coffee jar lid - free, lighter than a motorbike plate, not as slippy. A few more thoughts here.

Thanks Montgomery - great idea. Good blog as well - it was actually seeing some of your footage that initiated my interest in the SL3.

A rubber bung of an old walking stick does me, with a 1/4 inch thick rubber square I found, Coveniently, it has a little circular depression that the bung rests in. I found the blog got me really interested in going for a similar inner and the mod that M got Oookworks to make, a great idea. So I got one similar and it works a treat. Really well made too. Its got loads of room to sleep in but still leaves loads of room in the outer to cook, lounge or whatever.
