For BDs the Munkyworks Doobrie (custom order only) is great - just a bit of 12mm steel pole @ 10cms long and yours for £3 from B&Q..... Bob's Leki thing is something I might be interested in as although I have BDs (and the doobrie) I don't like the poles as they are no match for the resilient and springy Lekis... Nothing is going to work with the Raidlight poles I currently favour though as they are way to bendy to support a shelter... That Hex you have linked to appears to be a Shangri-La SD - not a Hex?

are you saying the shangri-la 3 at uttings out doors is a la-SD ??? Or have i got wring end off stick?????plus if you use only a small floor in one of these do you get more condensation because the floor is not covered??? ta peter
The link takes you to an SL-3 is all I am saying. Condensation is generally impossible to predict Peter. In a Hex/SL3 it runs down the walls to the floor....unless the wind is blowing (but then you tend to get less condensation under those conditions)....

soz but will have to ask a numpty question now....................can you still buy a hex or only the shangri-la 3 as i'm thinking off buying the shangri-la 3 for £119 unless others offer it cheaper !!!!!! do you use a full floor or only half or bivi many thanks peter
I think you can only get the SL3 these days Peter. I have used a half floor, floor only, bivvy bag and mat, and full nest in it - it certainly is flexible.
.JPG) Peter there is supposed to be a newer/better version of the SL3 coming in 2010..... Prob more than 119 tho... I use either the full nest, or a lightweight groundsheet and bivi or just a lightweight groundsheet with the hex, depending on conditions. Am gonna start my half hex inner soon
yeah think i read on here off a price off 180 .after selling present tents want....to end up with one off these and possibly a solar 2.2 both for me and dog
Nearly got the doris to but a SL3 at that price last night, my chrimbo pressie BUT I've heard a couple of people now say that that colour attracts bees etc. Anyone any experience of this?
The only two times I have seen one that colour up was once at minus 7 on a hill....and the other time in Backcountry Gear in Oregon. No bees around on either occasion.
MIght have to ask Jamie or BBF - one of those lads has a bamboo one
Aye, 'tis me who has the bamboo one. Not many bees to be found on Munro summits...certainly not at this time of year anyway. Can't say I've noticed any extra wee beasties compared to any other tent I've used.
.jpg) Is it worth waiting for the 2010 model to come out or are the improvements small in which case this years model is worth buying at £119.Anyone Know what the improvements are?

 Read back, Bob mentioned them.
Its not the colour that attracts insects to BBF's tent... its the smell!
 hahaha
I wouldn't get a yellow one simply because I wouldn't be able to resist the urge to pitch it on the street and start digging up the road under it.

Doesnt matter what colour it is, if its raining you might as well be in a hole in the ground anyway
