Good Man! Green, read the wild camping codes and you'll realise that keeping yourself discreet is all part of the game.

What, the "boring blend in with everyone else game" you mean? Mind you, I suppose the hills are a natural habitat for sheep You could buy some camouflage trousers and that brown paint for your face to really blend in. Well cool

hi is that the real you???????? with out the torch???? does the bamboo one ''give a better feel'' or seem lighter?? think i'd prefer a bamboo but a bit worried about leaving tent when ouy there ta peter
No thats Jamie, if you look carefully you can just make out his tent above his left shoulder Where do you think you'll be leaving the tent when out there? is there likely to be a lot of foot traffic? I generally dont leave my tent pitched unnatended in the hills. I tend to pitch late and pack up early and move on.

 I went to buy some camouflage trousers yesterday . . . . . I couldnt find any

< hands FB his coat > Thats a good piccie of me, that is what I look like when I get up at dawn on a wild camp! BBF makes a point it does depend where you use your tent, despite peoples opinions on wild camping in the Peak District I do wild camp there and people may see a nono green tent in some areas I've camped especially up high on exposed summit camps.

Hi guys I have spent the last 2 days thinking about the half nest that sean (i think) built and have even built scale models to test feasability. Now I am not sure of the weight yet but do you think a sunn camp 2 person inner tent would fit in the sl3 with obviously a bit of tying back. It is 200cm wide, 135cm deep has a bit of a slope and goes to a height of 175cm. The reason I ask is it is only £20 and a hell of alot easier than cracking open the pinking shears and the needles.
I've just googled that Sunn Camp 2, Chris. It seems to be a caravan awning? It looks too big, and the wrong shape, and lots of work would have to be done to it. I'll bet it's a heavy bugger too.
Fair enough. I have got in contact with a curtain maker near me (reading) for an estitmate to make the half nest. She is willing to tackle the challenge so hopefully my march I will have a fully functioning half nest.

Recently got a Shangri-La 3. Love it! Regarding seam sealing, the instructions that came with the shelter say that this can be done with silicon caulking. Wouldn't this be just as good as buying one of the special seam sealing products like McNett? This would be a good option for me as I live in Spain, haven't seen any of those special products on sale here and I happen to have some silicon caulking on hand. I thought maybe I'd mix a little of it with mineral spirits and brush it on. Does this sound like a good idea? I suspect the special sealing products are nothing more than silicone gel anyway. Am I wrong? Thanks for any advice you might be able to offer.

Okay folks, it's finally here. Those of you with lightweight Leki Poles and Pacer Poles can now replace the handle and connect the four lower sections together, with our new 16mm Extender Tube and save weight.
Working on the solo nest next ) Roll on Spring 2010 ...
FFS Bob Christmas is already crippling my wallet!!!! Now got to figure out how I'm gonna carry that thing without breaking it!? Hmm
Just to clarify regarding these extenders, I've just had the update from Pacers. The 14mm version fits the Alloy Pacers, replacing the lower section. The 16mm version fits the Carbon Pacers, replacing the handle section. Sorry for any confusion. All my fault.

If anyone is interested in the half nest I have found a seamstress who is willing to make it but its a bit pricey at the moment. I was wondering if I went to her with a few orders she might be willing to knock the price down a bit. She thinks it will be around £100 in labour but I am hoping if she can make a few that will drop as she gets more practice and it becomes quicker. Please could you let me know if you are interested in forming a group of half nest buyers.
