OK it's time for another Scottish meet when hopefully the midges will have died away, although I'm making no guarantees having already experienced them twice  this year at over 1000m!

Base will be Glencoe where there are many accommodation options including:

Clachaig Inn B&B
Clachaig Inn self catering chalets
Red Squirrel Campsite
(0.6 mile)
Glencoe Youth Hostel
(0.8 mile)
NTS Campsite
(1.5 miles)
Invercoe Campsite
(2.8 miles)

Figures in brackets give distances to the Clachaig Inn which will be the base for the weekends socialising.  Your accommodation choice may be influenced by these staggering distances!   There is also another independent bunkhouse near the youth hostel but I have heard mixed reports about it.

Format will be the usual i.e.meet in the pub on Friday night to discuss plans etc, walk Saturday, meet again in the pub Saturday night, walk Sunday etc etc.  Very informal and no rambler style organised walks!

However Iain Gallagher and ptc* are discussing the possibility of scrambling/navigation/lightweight campcraft workshops and will post details shortly for anyone who is interested.

So get yourselves organised for accommodation and we'll see you in the Clachaig on the Friday night.

All welcome

This sounds like a great opportunity and I'm free that weekend so count me in! I did the scrambling course with Iain at the recent Wales supermeet and can't recommend him highly enough. Hopefully the midges won't be too bad.

Hey AT you're a month too early for the Clachaig Beer Festival so can't give you the distinction of organising a piss up in a preverbial brewery

Never the less I shall be there and look forward to meeting you Peakbagger

Jesus, is it only half a mile to the Red Squirrel? Feels more of a walk than that sometimes.

Anyway, I'll put myself in as a maybe. I'll have no idea until nearer the time really but I haven't seen anybody in ages so I will try.

The midges dead by late September?????

In GlenCoe??????

You really are an optimist

My midge Jacket won't get stowed till November

Gordy - you should try it in the dark without a headtorch at Hogmanay! Hope you make it - you could alway bring the wee one!

Good luck with it Steve, I'd love to come but unfortunately it coincides with the Arran Outdoor Festival and that's just unmissable

Sounds good to us!

Definitely Maybe.....  it depends whether we're away on a more 'exotic' trip in mid-September
Most probably going to be there of course, its not like you lot can have a good time unless I'm there to laugh at!!! Will of course have to see if there is anything on but would be 96% sure we'll both be there! J
Hmmm, that 4% uncertainty wouldn't have anything to do with the chances of you getting a ticket for the Manchester derby match would it?

Jamie just remember that even if you do have to say south that weekend Nicky is more than welcome to come and join us

You've just changed those odds of the uncertainty to about 10% as I hadn't even checked the fixtures for those dates! I had to give up my offer of a season ticket this year for financial reasons and its hard to get tickets on the membership scheme so I'll probably be there!
Like I would let my missus go anywhere alone with you lot! You'd only gt her drunk and find out my darkest secrets!... or atleast find out those darkest secrets you don't already know!

Jamie ou give your darkest secrets away yourself, Nicky is the one usually trying to get you to shut up

It'll be lovely to see you both

So, let me see, the meet is going to be held in Glencoe somewhere deep in the Polish or Czech countryside? According to this link.

Well spotted Colm ab Ifan! Not sure what's going on with the home page.  However if you click on the links on the left hand side of the website you'll find info on the Red Squirrel.
