The site at Invercoe is good, quiet, flat, has a covered bit you can cook in, clean toilets and is fairly cheap. I've used it a few times and if I decide to camp on a campsite that's where I'll probably go.

It's a bit further to walk to the clachaig tho but this being a forum full of hillwalkers means that shouldn't be a problem.

I shall remind you of this statement as we drunkenly stagger out of the Clachaig inn and try and find our way back in the dark!

I wasn't going to start a who's coming/where are we staying thread until closer the time but it might be useful to start a provisonal list so folk have an idea of where others are staying.  So please feel free to add to/amend the list below:

Ayrshire Tiger/That Blonde Woman - Glencoe Cottages B&B Fri/Sat/Sun
StephenM - Youth Hostel Fri, Sat, Sun
Bigbananafeet - Invercoe Fri, Wildcamp Sat? ?Sun?
Peakbagger - Invercoe Fri, Wildcamp Sat? ?Sun?

re campsites, there have been reports of sites being busier than usual this year.  I don't think it should be a problem in September (particularly the Red Squirel!) but it might be worth contacting the Invercoe/NTS sites in advance if that's where folk decide on just make sure there is space.

PS As someone who has enough difficulty staggering half a mile from the Clachaig, good luck if you camp at Invercoe! However I have camped there in the past and for facilities it is the better choice, however on the occasions I stayed there I didn't attempt to stagger to/from the Clachaig!

We could all just pretend that we're wildcamping on the ded squirrel...

I'll camp wherever everyone else does, well not exactly, maybe a few metres away. Can't see any reason why I won't be there...

Just a thought but I'm sure those planning to stay at Invercoe could probably organise a taxi to get back from the Clachaig.  And you could also share a car to get there and leave the car overnight in the Clachaig car park for collection in the morning.

Ok, Invercoe it is then! I'll be staying Fri through to Sun and if the weather's any good I may even extend may stay a bit longer as I don't have to be back at work until Thursday. I'm afraid I'm not up for the wildcamp though, I like my little luxuries like a toilet that flushes and hot showers too much to rough it!

Aye same here unless I know the weather is going to be settled, hence the B&B for this trip!  However I have to say my recent wild camp experience on the Glenshiel ridge was fantastic - but that was a last minute decision with guaranteed dryness forecast!

You'll get more than a raised eyebrow if you go wandering across the ded squirrel site brandishing your wee orange trowel with a desperate look on your face

I'm sure we can sort something out if there's a few peeps on the Invercoe site. I fully intend to get a proper wildcamp on a summit somewhere though.

You don't need a trowel for wee...

Think I'm a maybe, baby, for this one

Put me down as a definite, just not for all the days. How many is it for wild camping?

Show/hide user stats
Stephen I've a feeling I'll have to head on Sunday at some point. I live in East Kilbride though hopefully by that point it'll be Hamilton, anyway if I'm away on Sun you're welcome in the passenger seat.

Hi Ptc,

I would be up for wild camping, I have the Hostel booked but can cancel for whichever night you are thinking of going.

Cheers,

Stephen
