We're definately maybe's. We looked around for a cottage to rent but weren't that impressed by the local offerings that weren't already taken. So current thinking is if we come up, which is quite probably, we'll camp at Invercoe. And may well make a week of it here, there and wherever we fancy. I'd like a wildcamp, but since I'll have Paul with me I'm not 100% sure if I'll leave him kicking his heels on his own - since he can't drive and'll have the hound with him/etc. So, umm I'll tag along with whatever is going on. Umm maybe

I suspect the best accommodation has already been booked Beth, especially this year when there have apparently been more Brits staying at home. For anyone who's interested in B&B there is still a twin bedded room available at Glencoe Cottages B&B.

Don't know whether this helps anybody nor if they have vacancies, but had a pleasant few days earlier this year at Strathassynt Guest House, Ballachullish - across the road from the pub, drying room, pleasant hosts - T 01855 811261, www.strathassynt.com

Hi folks, Just wondering if anymore folks have decided on the wild camping on the Saturday night. Cheers, Stephen
|
 |
I'm moving house at moment and was hoping to be settled in new work etc. by then so will be keeping an eye on this thread. Still far too early for me to say anything even half certain but if I came I certainly would be keen to avoid Dead Squirrel and would go for wild camping.

Shite - we've a wedding reception to go to 200 miles away on the Saturday.

I suspect most folk will wait and see what the weather forecast is before making plans. Shite - we've a wedding reception to go to 200 miles away on the Saturday. What sort of an excuse is that?! Seriously though that's a pity Gordy, would have been good to catch up.

Hi Guys, Does anyone have any experience of campsites are thna are close by. I am half thinking of canceling the Hostel and camp as I will have my tent with me already and might as well use it. Cheers, Stephen

Stephen - the nearest camp site to the Clachaig Inn is the Red Squirrel but from previous post it looks like Invercoe is the preferred option. There are links in the first post of this thread.

Would anyone be up for going Ben Nevis one of the days (or part of the wild camp) while we are in the area. Cheers, Stephen

Folks, Whats will the midges sitaution be like. Cheers, Stephen

Well... I'm just trying to be properly not organised, that way I can do whatever seems best that day. Hopefully I will have the Welsh 3000s out of the way in a week or so... that means the trip to Scotland may well just turn into a laze fest

Ben Nevis - not sure it's the best place for a wild camp, higher up it's very bouldery. I guess you might be able to camp somewhere near the half way lochan. Main problem of course is that it's very, very busy even into the evening! Of course an option would be to go up to Steall and camp there then go up to the beallach between the Aonachs and Nevis and go up on to the CMD arete. Midges - who knows, but in September there might still be a few about! Really depends on location and how much wind there is. As Kelvin says, probably best to be not organised and see what the weather brings before making plans!

I did the Ben via CMD arête only a couple of weeks or so ago. I was camping at the Glen Nevis site so my route took me up the tourist path to the lochan, then round the north side of the Ben to the CIC hut, up onto CMD and along the arête to the summit of the Ben. Nice route but I'm not sure I'd be up for doing it again so soon especially as I haven't done any of the Munro's in Glencoe before. BTW, I've reserved my pitch at Invercoe. Looks a much nicer site than the Dead Squirrel.
