If i manage over, it will be either pre or post op, so either way i'll be hobbling slowly, and unable to walk with anyone else. Any ideas what maps we will need as I will need to buy one.

Would Harveys be the best, I might buy the area to use with viewranger also.

Harveys would definitely be my recommendation and I'd go for the 1:25,000 Super Walker of Ben Nevis and Glencoe (two maps).  You can get a 1:40,000 Harveys map showing both areas on one map but it's not as readable as the 1:25,000s.

Don't whatever you do buy the OS 1:25,000!

I was hoping you would say the Harvey's maps as they are class, I can only get them in Ireland for very limited places, probaly only for 30% of my trips.

I will pick some up in Glasgow on my way up to Glencoe, do you know if any place in Glencoe sells them or would Fort Bill be nearest place.

On another note do you know why the train takes an hour longer than the Bus.

Stephen - assuming that you are going to be in Glasgow you should be able to get them from Tiso in Buchanan Street (5 minute walk from either Central or Queen Street stations) - note - there are two Tisos in Glasgow.  You would also get them in Fort Bill.

As for the train taking longer it is because it goes all the way round Rannoch Moor and Ben Nevis to come in to Fort Bill from the north east.  The bus takes a more direct route up the A82 straight through Glencoe.  The bus would I think be the better option especially if you are now camping at Invercoe as it is literally a 10 minutewalk from Glencoe village where the bus will definitely drop you off.  If you come by train you will still have to make your way from Fort Bill to Glencoe (45 minute local bus which aren't that frequent).

Would you think I would need to book a campsite or can I just turn up, I emailed the Red Squirrel but got a bounce back, I will give them a call tomorrow.  I am going to cancel my hostel booking as I am bringing a tent for wild camping so might as well use it

Mike, no excuses. For once I shall forgo my rule of not being a nurse when I'm not in work just to provide you with support in either your pre or post op state for the weekend. How can you refuse that offer
