Hi folks

Please forgive me but I'll very quickly introduce myself.  I'm Keith Melton, we run the above mentioned business and have done since  February 2007.  The business has been running for about 40 years and has previously been known under various names - "Glencoe Bunkhouses", "Red Squirrel Bunkhouses", "Glencoe Bunkhouse and Hostel" and many more unsavoury ones too.

It's fair to say the business had a 'mixed' reputation before we arrived, and the thread on the UK Climbing Forum was a true shocker.  Since we took over we've worked really hard to improve the place, and we've made great inroads.  You can check out the hostel reviews on Hostelworld here, and our own website here.  I'm not just pimping for business here - we're full for the weekend of your meet, but if anyone wants to pop in for a look or to say hello feel free.

Anyway, I hope you have a great time.  If the rain stops Glencoe is fantastic, and good luck with the midges! If anyone wants to pop in to say hello please do so, otherwise I may well see you down the Clachaig!

I just noticed quite a few of you are staying down at Invercoe.  It's a great site, lovely location and very well managed.  He's also got quite a few midge machines which should help you out a bit!

A few people were struggling with public transport too.  No doubt you'll all be sorted by now but for future reference here is a link to the Citylink bus timetable, and also a link to the Traveline Scotland website which is a tremendous resource for planning journeys.

If you've got any other questions feel free to let me know.

All the best!
Keith

Sorry folks - a bit more info.  If you're heading down the Clachaig from Invercoe or further afield and don't want to drive here are some taxi numbers for you.  You WILL need to prebook - there are not many cars.  You can get "Ali's taxis" on 01855 811136 and Kenny Hazelton on 01855 811764.

Hi Keith,

Welcome to the forum.

Good of you to be upfront about your business. Hope it goes well

yep indeed.

and thanks for the travel links.

Just one question, do you think Charlton will get automatic promotion or have to settle for the play-offs?

Keith - thanks for posting that very useful info.  Glad to hear that you've turned the business round, I must admit I had seen that UKC thread a while back and have always been a bit wary of using your hostel even though I had heard that it was under new mangement.  Best of luck for the future and as you say, maybe see you in the pub!

Cheers

and what a good signing you've just made.

Hope so Mick!  Especially after losing Turner although I do believe that sale benefitted yourselves!

Do you think we should have a Football thread? To Discuss and analyse

Well, the cultured OMers have rugby threads, so I don't see why there shouldn't be a footie thread. Just make sure it doesn't get violent

This isn't a footie thread, it's Charlton and Hull City remember.  Thought I'd get that in before Kate or Jamie feel the need to make that observation!

Used to go to the old Valley ground when stationed at Woolwich in fact did a bit of physio for them at one time so hope they do well. However, as a life long Leeds fan hope Charlton get an automatic slot but that Leeds are one place above!

Charlton and Leeds to go up then and Millwall to be relegated

Could I add my name for the w/e, aiming to do Tower Ridge and the Annoch thingy with Iain G. Will probably be around just Saturday night at the RS campsite. Would be good to bump into a few OM folk though.
