Hi Folks, I just booked the Youth Hostel (phone number below), not bad for £17 a night. They still 50 or so beds left. Cheers, Stephen Tel: 01855 811 219

Hi folks, My apologies for above, I was trying to copy a Skype shortcut with the campsites phone number.

Hi folks, I have never been to Glencoe that time of year, Would I need to bring Crampons\Helmet\Ice Axe, Googles\Snow Shovel and Avalanche probe or can that be left at home. Will there be any chance we will be wild camps, should I bring my stove and Tent. Cheers, Stephen

Hi Stephen Even before global warming I doubt there was much chance of snow in Glencoe in September, although some of the older members on here might correct me! However there is a possibility of some scrambling courses being provided by Iain Gallagher for which I think a helmet (and harness) would be required - hopefully Iain will post details soon. There are also a few folk who might well be up for a wild camp eg ptc, Bigbananafeet.

Hi Tiger, Sounds like the weather will be much similar to Ireland. I will pack the tent and Crampons so. Just wonderin gdo you know how good the Public transport is bewteen Glasgow and Glencoe. Cheers, Stephen

Think there's a City Link bus every couple of hours or so. I assume you meant to say you'll pack a helmet and not crampons!
Aye, wild camping. There's a possibility I'll tie in with Iain Gallagher for a workshop "something" as well, but whatever I'll be in the mountains with a tent, probably right on the top of something

 > probably right on the top of something A Thermarest...?

Hi Tiger, That would be a good packing blunder Thats great, I can get a bus at 3.00 on the Friday afternoon and be there for 5.30 and back to Glasgow at 7.30 in the morning in time for my noon flight back to to Brussels from Prestwick. The only problem is if I missed the 7.30 (or it didnt turn up) I would miss my flight. Would you think there would be many people driving back to Glasgow on the Monday morning. Cheers, Stephen

Most folk I suspect will head home on Sunday evening although TBW and I will be going back on the Monday but we will probably do a hill before heading back, weather permitting! However I'm sure the bus will turn up, but if not hopefully there might be someone heading down to Glasgow on the Monday morning. One thing with the bus though, probably best to book in advance and not rely on just turning up and hoping there are seats available.

Cheers Tiger, Things are all coming together now. I will make sure to pack my drinking socks.
Aye, it's good when a plan starts to come together! As well as your drinking socks don't forget your headtorch for the walk back from the Clachaig to the youth hostel...it's a very dark road with ditches at the side that are very easy to to fall into...so I'm told!
 good stuff Tiger
Yep wild camping on a summit one night for me as well and being led astray in the pub another. Drinking socks eh? I'm intrigued. I'd be up for a bit of scrambling too depending upon conditions.
Being led astray? Is that what you think happened at Inchree?!
For those who haven't beeen on an OM meet before and are wondering whether to attend don't be scared - it's not compulsory to get drunk, be led astray or fall over into ditches with or without headtorch but it does help
Being led astray? Is that what you think happened at Inchree?! Aye, it was all Cath's fault too
I've seen the whiskey collection photo... how can getting drunk not be compulsory?!?
Can I ask who else is camping and where? I looked at the website for the Dead Squirrel and to say I'm not impressed is a bit of an understatement! The NTS site looks a lot nicer IMO but I don't really want to end up being the only one there whilst everyone else is at a different site.
