Excellent Martin, good to have another one on board.  As you will have seen from the first post these meets are very informal, just turn up in the pub on Friday night and take it from there.

This is probably a good time to update the "who's coming" list...

Definites:

Ayrshire Tiger/That Blonde Woman - Glencoe Cottages B&B Fri/Sat/Sun nights
StephenM - Red Squirrel Fri/Sat - looking for lift back to Glasgow/Prestwick Sunday night
Bigbananafeet - Invercoe Fri, Wildcamp Sat? Invercoe Sun?
Peakbagger - Invercoe Fri/Sat/Sun - maybe stay until Wed
Kelvin - Invercoe Fri, wildcamp Sat?
teuchter - Invercoe Fri/Sat, possibly Sun
ptc - camping, somwhere!
Beth/Paul - Invercoe Fri/Sat, maybe stay on for a few days
Martin Chown - camping high, low, whatever from the 16th

Maybes:
Kinley
Matt & Elaine
Jamie & Nicky
Mole
Iain Gallagher
Nearly Normal Polar Bear
Mike fae Dundee

The beer tastes better out back when i'm having a smoke, AT.

Um, that wasn't Mike at the pub in Lochinver back in May, was it?
Not unless Mike had grown a couple of inches, put on about three stone and sprouted brown hair!

Invercoe seems rather expensive seeing as I'll be rolling up in a vehicle and not backpacking. Did someone say that Red Squirrel site is nearer the pub?

15 notes is taking the mick for one person.

Kelvin - yes the Red Squirrel is nearer the pub (approx 20 minute walk) but the facilites are more basic.  Invercoe is, at it says on their website, a 5 star site so I guess you pays your money... £15 is a bit steep though, we stayed at Glen Nevis Camp Site which is a similar standard to Invercoe a couple of weeks ago and it cost us £15.50 for two of us including a car.  For one it would have been £12.50.  looks like the Red Squirrel is £7 pppn.  If I was camping I know which I'd go for if only for being able to walk to the pub!  But then we're staying in a B&B which is even closer to the pub than the Red Squirrel!

I like the invercoe site when I go stay in the area mysels sometimes. I'm probably going to have Louise with me so wildcamping is looking less likely for me this time. I'm tempted to stay at the ded squirrel the more I think of the the stagger back from the pub.

I know where we'll be staying. And it isn't the dead squirrel! IIRC from back in may the Nevis campsite was about 15quid with dog, ditto the Glenmore in june and that was without taking the the dog into account as the woman behind the counter felt sorry for me, or something.

The views down the loch at Invercoe are brilliant. And the (usual) breeze keeps the wee biting beasties at bay.

So how long is the walk back to Invercoe? I don't mind 20min like the Red Chipmunk, even half an hour is fine but if it's over 40min then that's a bit much... I mistakenly bought a house 40 minutes walk from my local once - TOO FAR!

That Invercoe one is no doubt nicer but all I need is a shower each day. Pub will supply most of everything else! It's not I can't afford 15 notes, it's more the fact I've been paying a bluey in Snowdonia this year. Grrrrr

I must admit I've stayed at Invercoe myself but that was when the Glencoe Hotel was open!  And it is a very nice site and as Beth says it's a cracking location.  however from MemoryMap it is just under 3 miles to/from the Clachaig, which I reckon is at least 40 minutes staggering distance (dependent on how much falling down liquid has been consumed!).  There was discussion earlier in the thread about getting a taxi but that does add an element of organisation...

Looks like I may be at this one! I've got a stag party in Glasgow to organise the week before then back to Manchester to work all week then back up to Scotland again to have the pish taken out of me all weekend. Sounds like a good plan!

Excellent Jamie!  You just coming up Fri-Sun?  I assume you'll be camping - you going to go for the Red Squirrel or Invercoe?  Hope you bring the dug!

I think the dug is with us for quite some time from next week as Nicky's folks are going to Oz for several week and dumping him on us, much to the delight of the cat of course... not! Worse thing is that Nickys folks are the ones who usually look after the cat when we go away so at the moment trying to figure out what the hell we do with her, even next week when we're supposed to be off to the hills camping we can't go yet!

Will try and take the Friday and Monday off but not sure if Nicky can, either way we'll be up Friday night even if it means getting there late so we can have a full walking day on Saturday. I absolutely hate the Red Squidge campsite but will probably stay there simply because of the short walk to the Clachaig.
