Great, I've been wanting some for a while but the price put me off. (well they aren't camping gear are they)

Continuing the search for a Clone caddy, I found a tall pot in the 99p Store; a 750ml 'Sozali' branded clip-closure cup, with side graduations (consistently 10ml low reading...). A bit heavy at 89g, though. I bet it could be used as a cozy cooking pot. It's just wide enough to hold a 330ml drinks can burner. Then I bought a 'Disney' baby bottle in Poundland. 330ml, with no-drip silicone teat nozzle. A bit small for a drinking bottle, perhaps... Poundland also had a pack of ten 'microwave containers' each weighing 17g, and holding 400ml. Not a great seal, but, again, I think they could make very light cosy cook/serving pots. They fit in a Trangia mini cook pot.

Not quite a pond shop but I bought a set of pans in a local 'bargain' shop for £6.99. http://www.proteam.co.uk/products/3/CA/CA1089 2 pans, 2lids and handle. Pans are 1.4l and 1l. Total weight of 2x pan, 2xlid and handle is 270gms. The small 1l pan is only 55gm and lid 40gm but with a foil lid it would make a very leightweight pan. Handle is only 40gm so is comparable to msr and agg. It all seems well made but obviously being leightweight isn't suitable for bashing tent pegs in with or playing football.

Poundland 500ml of alcohol gel (H2Go, or something similar, in blue pump bottle). Burns a treat; probably best burning gel I've found so far. Cookie cutter set, which has a tub case that fits an Alpkit MyTiMug almost perfectly.

From the Bargain Alert thread... Lots of camping goodies at Poundland. I'd seen the inflatable pillows before, but I might have a look at the walking poles. They also have 500ml H2Zero alcohol hand sanitizer gel at the moment, which burns nicely.

I love these things - after Cardiff and Caerphilly, the nearest Poundland to me is Weston Super Mare, which is a mere 11.2 miles from Cardiff. Yes, but they haven't built the Severn barrage yet!! But thanks for the heads up about the pillows

for drinks pouches, try lucozade sport ones [or similar clones];. used to use them for water & they were fine once rinsed out.

Oh, I also bought some 'Mug Shot' things, as three for £1. They're made by Symington's. No articifical colours of flavours (inc MSG). They're okay.

Mug Shots aint too bad to be honest

 > Mug Shots aint too bad to be honest Indeed. I'd only seen the noodle ones in Poundland/99p Store. I may look out for the others. They work quite nicely with the little 400ml LifeVenture mug and Flissure: I took a pile with me skiing recently, given the price of hill food last year in Meribel, but couldn't find any alcohol a bruler in the resort mini-market. And the food in La Rosiere proved a lot cheaper... Poundland also had the Symingtons/Crosse & Blackwell 'Pasta & Sauce' at 3 for £1. The tomato one was a bit synthetic tomato (as dried tomato often is).

c.p ,did you get my e-mail with my address for the ali sample?

Mug Shots have been 3 for £1 in Asda for ages (last 6 months at least), several different varieties.

I had a look in my local Poundland for the walking poles; no sign. However, I did find a 'lightweight fishing rod', which is made from a number of telescopic fibreglass tube sections, and ends up 8ft long. Admittedly, you could probably only catch tadpoles with the thing. However, I was interested in it as a lightweight end pole for a tent I'm designing. The outer pole is 55cm long, and seems perfectly strong enough for that purpose. The next pole might do, too. Weight of entire 'rod': 44g. Weight of outer pole (with end cap): 18g. Weight of 2nd pole: 11g.

Reminded my Mal's comment on the Ezee trowel thread... Poundland have a folding stainless steel trowel in their 'camping range' at the moment. Not weighed it, and it feels fairly heavy, but, for £1, what more do you want...?

Local Poundland [Barnsley] was selling sheets 25x33cm of nonstick cooking liner; bought one to see if I could put it in my camping pot/s to stop food sticking to the bottom.

I bought some Enamel Plates, cups and Bowls ( exactly the same as what Cotswold flog for £3.99 ea), from the 99p shop back in April. They also had other stuff.. army mess tin, waterproof matches and survival blankets. I went a bit mad actually, at 99p ea. why not I've not been in for a while but most of the camping stuff sold pretty quickly I think. Simon
