Gaiters? I understood the Lakes was under water this weekend. I'm taking mine! (sorry; you could always live with wet feet )
Bugger!

I'm sure a pair of gaiters won't be the straw that breaks the axle of Posh Totty's speedster!

No snow - so why on earth would you need gaiters; they are so last year

 Hi All,
I've just got back from a very wet and windy week in Wales (Snowdonia) ... most enjoyable!
For the Meet I'm now four! Me (Steve), my elder daughter (Sam) and a couple of mates (Dave and Rob). There may be another one yet to confirm.
We aim to arrive at Great Langdale Campsite before 7pm on Friday the 13th (!!!) and hope to see you all in the ODG in the evening. I'll check for any last minute change-of-venue before we set off on Friday afternoon.
Yours,
Steve

Excellent Steve, there will definitely be no change of plan for Friday evening, we will be in the ODG! See you there!

Patience... patience... Have a look at today's forecast for the Lakes... "A rather cloudy day with showery outbreaks of rain, heaviest and most frequent across the eastern fells. Drier in the west with the best of the brightness. The showers will fall as snow above 800m." My plan is to skip the horrors of the camp site and pub on Friday, and turn up at 0930 on Saturday, in the hope that some of you might actually be planning to do some proper wild camping. Can't get there any earlier, but no doubt someone will still be on the site.

Hmmmmm...... I just weighed the bag. 12.8kg before food and water! Ok, there is quite a bit of waterproof/insulation going and I'm taking a PD600 so it's always going to be a bit on the heavy side. However is this too much for a winter hike? The tents a laser comp, the cook system is a snowpeak and pocket rocket combo. I'm not sure what I can cut....

Hi folks. I shall be joining you all as a quarter of Steve 'PirateFrog's' +4!!! Been a while since I've been on here. Lost my faith in forums a while back after the great LFTO debacle!!!!! Dave

Paddy - I can see your reasoning, it may be the same for me now. Mr Sworld... with you there, never wild camped and have no idea what to bring!!! Decided not to weigh anything haha. That way I won't know any better!
