Shhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TBH I work outside and rely on weather forecasts. The met office can't predict lowland weather for the same day, let alone mountain forecasts for a week away.

 Indeed Rocky!

The Farmers 5 day forecast on R4 this am was a bit bleak - but who cares.
 The what? On what?
Thats for people in the know Tim.. The farmers need to know the weather just like ourselves....see here..... Can you still not make it buddy???

To be fair I was up in the Black Mountain area on Saturday and the BBC Weather forecast was spot on, the only way it could have been more accurate is if they told me the hail was going to hurt when it hit me in the face.
Any sign of snow up there, Rob? They'd forecast blizzard conditions at c.800m overnight. I thought saturday ended up being better than forecast actually - the showers were a lot further apart than I'd expected!
I didn't see any snow while I was up there. The highest point on my route was 802m on Fan Brycheiniog, that's when the rain and hail started and it didn't let up until I got back to the car. I saw lots of showers in the distance over other hills, but I didn't get wet until the main weather front moved in.
Great over that way - it's my favourite part of the Beacons. We were on Gilwern Hill above Blaenavon, but we finished at 2. Drove along the tiny road that cuts across Gilwern Hill above Clydach - got to be one of the most mountainous roads in South Wales!!
I can see why, I barely saw another person all day and the Fan Hir cliff is rather impressive. I've just taken a look at that road on the map, I've never explored that area before since I'm mostly driving down the A40 on my way back from somewhere else. Is it worth checking out?
No, not really - Gilwern's good for dog-walking and presumably birding, since we saw some twitchers up there, and there's some climbing in the quarries, but no extended open space for long walks. The Blorenge next door is a bit better. But I tend to stay north of the Heads of the Valleys Road (A465) myself.
I won't bother adding it to my 'todo list' then.
Tim, I thought you would know about the pre 6 am forecast. Aren't you up emptying the bins then?

So, Paul and I were talking about this meet this morning and the reality has somewhat hit me that I can't even contemplate coming. Vehicle problems, fitness and medical issues have conspired again to totally £$%^ things up
